    摘要: A Schmitt trigger circuit, the switching of which is used to command shifting of an automatic transmission from one gear to another or back again, is driven by a summing amplifier responsive to a voltage proportional to vehicle speed, to a voltage inversely proportional to motor loading as indicated by the position of the throttle and also to two-valued conditions related to actuation of a kickdown switch and of a shift range limiting selector switch. The circuit design and logic is such that with the Schmitt trigger operating at fixed switching thresholds, the vehicle speed of no load upshift, full load upshift, kickdown upshift, no load downshift, full load downshift and kickdown downshift can be respectively determined by the independent choice of value for individual resistors in the circuit. When more than one shift stage is involved summing amplifiers and Schmitt triggers must be duplicated, but a common speed signal source and a common load signal source may be used.

    摘要: A mechanism adapted to transfer torque from an input to an output shaft at either a unitary transmission ratio or a ratio exceeding unity wherein the transmission ratio is automatically changeable in response to the magnitude of the torque applied at the input shaft, the mechanism including automatic ratio changing means including a pawl supported on the output shaft for rotation therewith and for radial bodily movement relative thereto between a retracted position and an extended position directly coupling the input and output shafts, a cam on the input shaft adapted to cam the pawl from the extended to the retracted position under conditions of high torque input, an annular actuator disposed about the output shaft and adapted to be engaged and bodily shifted by the pawl transversely of the output shaft during movement of the latter from the extended to the retracted position, and a cam between the actuator and the output shaft adapted to impart to the actuator during transverse bodily motion an axial component of bodily motion operative to activate a planetary gear set disposed between the input and output shafts for increasing the torque transmission ratio therebetween.

    摘要: A circuit for controlling an automatic transmission system for an engine includes a resistor for supplying a third signal to the input of a summing amplifier, means for supplying a second signal representative of the speed of the vehicle, to the input of the summing amplifier and a transistor for supplying a first signal to the input of the summing amplifier only when the throttle setting of the vehicle exceeds a predetermined value. The arrangement being such that when the second signal exceeds the third signal or the third and first signals together, the circuit will operate to effect a ratio change to reduce the engine speed for a given road speed and vice versa.
