Abstract: A system includes a first USB Type-C Power Delivery (USB-C/PD) port and a control circuit operatively coupled to the first USB-C/PD port. The control circuit is configured to determine whether a short circuit condition has occurred based on a first threshold voltage. The control circuit is also configured to turn off a ground isolation switch when short circuit condition occurs. The control circuit is further configured to determine a whether a voltage on a ground line is less than a second threshold voltage. The control circuit is further configured to turn on the ground isolation switch when the voltage on the ground line is less than the second threshold voltage. The control circuit may perform one or more error recovery operations after turning on the ground isolation switch.

Abstract: A switching device including at least one main breaker, an actuator configured to cause a change of state of the main breaker, from a first to a second state, counter to a spring generated force, the actuator being powered by a control signal equal to a first level to cause the change of state of the main breaker then to a second, lower level, to hold the main breaker in the second state. The switching device comprises a current sensor configured to control the control signal to increase it to a third level higher than the second level if the current flowing in the main breaker is higher than or equal to a given operating threshold, to avoid a spurious change of state of the main breaker. The switching device comprises a re-armable protection system for controlling the time for which the control signal is held at the third level.

Abstract: A protection circuit including an inrush current detector operable to detect an inrush current from a DC link is disclosed herein. The protection circuit operates to detect when the voltage across the transistor switch exceeds a threshold voltage in response to a detected inrush current, and in response operates to turn off the transistor switch.

Abstract: An integrated circuit breaker includes a solid state switching module (SSWM) configured to receive and switchable control a line power (LP) for a given phase, and output a first switched power (SP) to a load. A first sensor (LPS) senses LP currents. A second sensor (SPS) senses SP currents. A power module controls operating states of the SSWM based upon LPS and SPS reading(s). The LPS and/or the SPS may also sense temperatures. The power module includes a high voltage domain, isolated from a low voltage domain, that includes a gate driver coupled to the SSWM and a high voltage controller providing drive signals to the gate driver. The low voltage domain includes an LP monitor and an SP monitor that detects anomalous LP and/or SP conditions and communicates error signals to the high voltage domain and to users for reporting, diagnostic, and/or other purposes via an external communications module.

Abstract: An electric system is disclosed. The electric system comprises first and second battery subassemblies, an interrupter, and a system controller. The interrupter connects the first battery subassembly in series to the second battery subassembly via a switched current-limiting path in parallel with a switched non-current-limiting path. The first battery subassembly causes closing of the switched current-limiting path when an energizing trigger is applied to the electric system. The system controller causes closing of the switched non-current-limiting path when energized by the first and second battery subassemblies. The electric system may be integrated in an electric vehicle. A method for energizing an electric system is also disclosed.

Abstract: A circuit breaker has line-side terminals and load-side terminals for conductors of a low-voltage circuit. A mechanical break contact system is connected to the line-side terminals for indirect-coupling of the low-voltage circuit, and the other end of the break contact system is connected to an electronic interruption unit which has, by use of semiconductor-based switching elements, a high-impedance state of the switching elements to prevent current from flowing and a low-impedance state of the switching elements to allow current to flow in the low-voltage circuit. The electronic interruption unit is connected to the load-side terminals at the other end. The mechanical break contact system can be manually actuated such that contacts of the mechanical break contact system can be manually closed to allow current to flow and be manually opened to interrupt the flow of current in the low-voltage circuit.
