摘要: A composite structural component is disclosed. The composite structural component can include a lattice structure, a casing disposed about at least a portion of the lattice structure, and a skin adhered to a surface of the casing. The lattice structure and the casing can be formed of a polymeric material and the skin can be formed of a metallic material. A method of manufacturing a composite structural component is disclosed. The method can include creating a casing of a polymeric material and creating a lattice structure of a polymeric material disposed about at least a portion of the casing. The method can include sealing the porosity of the casing and lattice structure. The method can include adhering a skin of a metallic material to at least a portion of the casing. At least one of creating a lattice structure and creating a casing comprises utilizing an additive manufacturing process.

摘要: Sheets of a vessel or other construction are joined edge to edge by deforming an edge of each sheet to have a projection outstanding from one face of the sheet, the deformed edge is entered into a slot of a joining strip and the outstanding projections are moved across in the slot so that they engage behind an abutment existing in a wall of the slot, and a key is also inserted in the slot to bear against the other face of the sheet and thereby maintain the engagement of the projections with the abutment. The ends of joining strip are then clamped between clamping blocks with such pressure that sliding movement of the sheet edge within its slot is inhibited and the slot is prevented from opening, e.g. upon impact forces.

摘要: A sailboat of the catamaran type has a pair of hulls joined by a pair of wedge shaped crossbeams, the crossbeams geometry being oriented to provide balanced distribution of loading on the hulls and crossbeams. An easily dismantable, multipart mast is stepped on the forward crossbeam and has a hook engaged by a ring or the like which is coupled to the shrouds and stay cables. The opposited ends of these cables has a unique "T" member for quick coupling with slotted shroud and stay anchor plates on the hulls of the boat. The rudder assembly includes an extruded rudder blade mounted in a rudder guide for vertical movement such that it is automatically raised upon encountering an obstruction.

摘要: A marine vessel whose hull consists of a single skin bottom plating comprising a plurality of large area membrane members supported by structural members about their outer periphery only and being of low areal density so as to deflect rapidly and substantially in response to the force of the shock wave of an underwater explosion without permanent deformation and whose personnel and machinery compartments are supported from hull structural members, such as bulkheads, solely by shock absorbing mounts.
