    Abstract: An LED package includes a housing, a substrate, a pad frame and an LED chip. The housing includes a plastic material, and has a recess with an opening at a top of the housing. The substrate includes substantially the same material with the housing. The pad frame includes conductive material, and is inserted on the substrate, and is fixed between the housing and the substrate. The LED chip is mounted on the pad frame and is disposed at a center of the recess. The housing is protruded and extended to a lower portion of the LED chip. Thicknesses of the housing's sidewalls facing to each other through the recess are substantially the same with each other.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is mobile middleware, a context monitoring method, a context-aware system, and a context-aware service provision method, which support energy-efficient context monitoring. The mobile middleware receives a request for a CMQ from context-aware application programs, receives sensor data from sensors, monitors whether the CMQ is satisfied, and transmits an event to the context-aware application programs according to results of the monitoring. In this case, the mobile middleware controls the sensors so that only sensor data required to determine whether the CMQ is satisfied needs to be transmitted so as to reduce energy consumption during the performance of the monitoring. Therefore, the mobile middleware can perform energy-efficient context monitoring, required by the context-aware application programs.

    Abstract: A compatible optical pickup including an active compensation device to actively switch an angle of incidence of the light on the objective lens when either a third information storage medium that has a different format than that of the first and second information storage media, or the second information storage medium is adopted for use in a data recording/reproducing operation. The active compensation device includes a plurality of transparent substrates, and at least one material layer, interposed between the plurality of substrates, having a refractive index which is actively switched according to an applied voltage. A holographic pattern, formed adjacent to the material layer on a surface of at least one of the transparent substrates, changes a divergence angle of the light by diffracting or transmitting without diffraction the incident light according to change of the refractive index of the material layer. The voltage applied to the material layer is adjusted according to the applied information storage medium that is adopted for the use in the data recording/reproducing operation.
