In performing a pattern search algorithm to find an optimal solution for an optimization, using a set of positive basis vectors that is non-maximal like a set of minimal positive basis vectors as search directions can sometimes causes the algorithm to converge at a non-optimal solution, like a horse saddle. The present invention provides a method to overcome this deficiency by rotating the vectors and hence increase the number of search directions.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an improved system and method for object detection with histogram of oriented gradient (HOG) based support vector machine (SVM). Specifically, the system provides a computational framework to stably detect still or not moving objects over a wide range of viewpoints. The framework includes providing a sensor input of images which are received by the “focus of attention” mechanism to identify the regions in the image that potentially contain the target objects. These regions are further computed to generate hypothesized objects, specifically generating selected regions containing the target object hypothesis with respect to their positions. Thereafter, these selected regions are verified by an extended HOG-based SVM classifier to generate the detected objects.

Structures in the nanoscale and mesoscale domain are provided. The structures may have a shell which can be comprised of a porous polymeric material such as parylene. The surfaces of the shell can further comprise pendant functional groups that can provide reactive or passive characteristics. A method of producing nanoscale structures utilizing a porous substrate is further disclosed.

The present invention provides a process for the preparation of self glazed geopolymer tile using fly ash and granulated blast furnace slag. In the process of the present invention, the granulated blast furnace slag is fine grounded and/or mechanically activated in conventional grinding mills or high-energy mills. The fly ash, which is found in powder form and fine powder of granulated blast furnace slag, is thoroughly mixed to make a homogenous mixture. The alkaline solution is added into the mixture to initiate the geopolymerization. The ratio of water to powder is optimised to obtain a consistent paste to be used for vibration casting. During the casting, the consistent paste flows inside the mould and the particles settles at mirror finished surface of mould, giving rise to dense and smooth surface.

Method and apparatus for dynamically placing sensors in a 3D model is provided. Specifically, in one embodiment, the method selects a 3D model and a sensor for placement into the 3D model. The method renders the sensor and the 3D model in accordance with sensor parameters associated with the sensor and parameters desired by a user. In addition, the method determines whether an occlusion to the sensor is present.

The sensor assembly stores time varying information in the information containing circuit. An image-based tele-presence system forward warps video images selected from a plurality fixed imagers using local depth maps and merges the warped images to form high quality images that appear as seen from a virtual position. At least two images, from the images produced by the imagers, are selected for creating a virtual image. Depth maps are generated corresponding to each of the selected images. Selected images are warped to the virtual viewpoint using warp parameters calculated using corresponding depth maps. Finally the warped images are merged to create the high quality virtual image as seen from the selected viewpoint. The system employs a video blanket of imagers, which helps both optimize the number of imagers and attain higher resolution. In an exemplary video blanket, cameras are deployed in a geometric pattern on a surface.

The present invention relates to an improved and cost effective process for the industrial manufacture of cefpodoxime proxetil. More specifically, the present invention relates to the preparation of cefpodoxime proxetil of high purity and yield. The process comprises a) dissolving impure cefpodoxime proxetil or adding a solution containing cefpodoxime proxetil into a polar organic solvent or mixture(s) thereof, optionally reducing the solvent by concentration, and adding into a non-polar organic solvent or mixture(s) thereof to precipitate the solid; and b) dissolving the solid obtained from the above step into water-miscible polar organic solvent, optionally reducing the solvent by concentration, adding it into water to obtain the pure cefpodoxime proxetil.
