Abstract: A network device for dynamically allocating memory locations to plurality of queues. The network device includes means for determining an amount of memory buffers that is associated with a port, for assigning a fixed allocation of memory buffers to each of a plurality of queues associated with the port and for sharing remaining memory buffers among the plurality of queues. The remaining memory buffers are used by each of the plurality of queues after the fixed allocation of memory buffers assigned to the queue is used. The network device also includes means for setting a limit threshold for each of the plurality of queues. The limit threshold determines how much of the remaining memory buffer may be used by each of the plurality of queues. The network device further includes means for defining at least one color threshold for packets including a specified color marking and for defining a virtual maximum threshold. When one of the plurality of queues requests access to the remaining memory buffers and the remaining memory buffers is less than the limit threshold for the queue, the virtual maximum threshold is defined for the queue. The virtual maximum threshold replaces the limit threshold and packets associated with the at least one color threshold are processed in proportion with other color thresholds based on the virtual maximum threshold ceiling.

Abstract: A network device for minimizing latency and correcting errors associated with information transmitted from an external memory device. The network device includes a management unit for requesting information stored on at least one external memory device. The network device also includes a command unit for transmitting a request from the management unit to the external memory device. The command unit maintain at least one counter that is associated with current requests and compares the at least one counter to at least one predefined threshold in order to throttle the management unit when the at least one counter exceeds the at least one threshold. The network device further includes means for aligning information from the at least one external memory device with information transmitted from the command unit to the management unit and for ensuring that aligned information is accurate.

Abstract: A method for selectively adjusting an amount of fuel to an engine in a vehicle is provided. The vehicle includes an electric machine operatively connected to the engine and capable of controlling a speed of the engine. The method includes providing an amount of fuel to the engine based at least in part on a desired output of the engine, which is based at least in part on a driver input. The electric machine is commanded to control the engine speed based at least in part on the driver input. An output error of the engine is determined based at least in part on the command to the electric machine. The amount of fuel provided to the engine is adjusted when at least one predetermined condition is met, including the output error of the engine being greater than a predetermined amount.

Abstract: A network device for dynamically allocating memory locations to plurality of queues. The network device includes an assigning means for assigning a predefined amount of a temporary memory buffer and a shared memory buffer to each of a plurality of ports and for allocating a fixed allocation of the temporary memory buffer and the shared memory buffer to each of a plurality of queues associated with each port. After each queue has accumulated a predefined portion of data in the temporary memory buffer, the data is transmitted to the shared memory. The means for assigning reduces the shared memory access bandwidth by a predefined amount that is less than a processing bandwidth of a system clock.

Abstract: A stiffenable balloon catheter assembly capable of being converted from an “over-the-wire” mode with respect to a guidewire extending therethrough to a “rapid-exchange” mode with respect to a guidewire extending therethrough, and vice versa. The catheter has a plurality of lumens, one lumen however, having a side opening with an obstructable galp, the orientation of which, determines the utilization “mode” of the catheter assembly. Stiffening stylets may be adjustably locked into the lumens, depending upon the “mode”, to control the stiffness of the catheter assembly during its utilization within a patient.

Abstract: A tubular prosthesis including a tubular wall portion of loosely interlocked pattern, e.g. of knitted loops, constructed to function within a body lumen. The loops are preferably formed of co-knitted strand materials. A first strand material is a metal strand that structurally defines the tubular shape of the prosthesis and maintains the shape when positioned in the lumen. A second strand material is a predetermined substance selected to provide desired characteristics to the wall of the prosthesis.

Abstract: Methods for forming, shaping and heat treating stents for reinforcement of the lumen of peristaltic organs. The stent is formed by knitting preferably a nitinol wire into a pattern of overlapping loops selected such that from a relaxed state each row of loops may shift axially relative to and independently of the rows on either side. This local lengthening and shortening accommodates peristalsis of the organ without migrating within the organ.
