摘要: The occurrence of slow motion in a video sequence is detected by: extracting a feature of luminosity for each of a plurality of frames of a video sequence, step 103; determining differences between the extracted features of luminosity, step 105; performing frequency analysis on the determined differences, step 109; and detecting the occurrence of slow motion in said video sequence when a frequency variation between the differences exceeds a predetermined threshold.

摘要: A method of substituting a primary content (110) being transmitted on a primary channel (100) with a secondary content (220), characterized by said secondary content being a summary of a program (210) being currently transmitted on a secondary channel (200). Preferably the method comprises substitution of the secondary content (220) in response to a commercial break (120) being transmitted on the primary channel (100). Preferably the method comprises transmission of the primary content (110) following the substituted secondary content (220) that is time-shifted to allow the secondary content to be presented to its end. Preferably the method comprises subsequent to presenting the secondary content (220), the program being currently transmitted on the secondary channel (210) that is presented instead of the primary content (110). Preferably the method comprises transmission of the secondary content (220) that is prior to changing of the channel currently watched from the primary channel (100) to the secondary channel (200).

摘要: A PVR (A) includes an output (70) wherein a TV channel selected for viewing is output, and a storage device (20) that selectively stores a channel indicator (24) therein. A user interface (60) provides means for selectively loading the storage device (20) with a desired channel indicator (24), and means for selecting a TV channel to be sent to the output (70). A buffer (82) is also included. The buffer (82) automatically records the TV channel output for viewing if the storage device (20) has no channel indicator (20) stored therein, and automatically records that TV channel indicated by the channel indicator (24) when one is stored in the storage device (20) even when the TV channel output for viewing is selected to be different from the TV channel indicated by the channel indicator (24).

摘要: The invention relates to a coding method applied to digital video data available in the form of a video stream consisting of consecutive frames. These frames, divided into macroblocks, include at least I-frames, independently coded, or P-frames, temporally disposed between said I-frames and predicted from at least a previous I- or P-frame, or B-frames, temporally disposed between an I-frame and a P-frame, or between two P-frames, and bidirectionally predicted from at least these two frames between which they are disposed, said predictions of P- and B-frames being performed by means of a weighted prediction with unequal amount of prediction from the past and the future. According to the invention, this coding method comprises the following steps: a structuring step, provided for capturing coding parameters characterizing the said weighted prediction; a computing step, for delivering statistics related to said parameters; an analyzing step for determining a change of preference regarding the direction of prediction; a step provided for detecting the occurrences of gradual scene changes; a step provided for generating description data of said occurrences; and a step for encoding the description data thus obtained and the original digital video data.

摘要: A method and apparatus are that restrict access to digital content to an authorized user on one or more systems using biometric watermarks. The disclosed biometric watermarking techniques allow an authorized user to be uniquely identified. Access to digital content is restricted to digital content in accordance with the present invention by embedding a biometric watermark, such as a biometric image, in the content. Thereafter, a user can only access the content if a biometric sample of the user matches the embedded biometric watermark. In one variation, the user can only access the content if the biometric sample is a live biometric sample. The embedded biometric watermark optionally includes information describing a system employed by the user to obtain the content. The user can optionally be permitted to access the content, without a biometric evaluation, if the content is on a system that has been previously authorized for the user using a biometric evaluation.

摘要: Summarization of audio and/or visual data based on clustering of object type features is disclosed. Summaries of video, audio and/or audiovisual data may be provided without any need of knowledge about the true identity of the objects that are present in the data. In one embodiment of the invention are video summaries of movies provided. The summarization comprising the steps of inputting audio and/or visual data, locating an object in a frame of the data, such as locating a face of an actor, extracting type features of the located object in the frame. The extraction of type features is done for a plurality of frames and similar type features are grouped together in individual clusters, each cluster being linked to an identity of the object. After the processing of the video content, the largest clusters correspond to the most important persons in the video.

摘要: As the amount of audiovisual data that can be received by consumers increases rapidly, there is an increasing need for proper summarisation of audiovisual data like films. Thereto, the invention provides a method of creating a multimedia summary of a stream of audiovisual data like a film. First, a textual summary is retrieved (204). Next, the stream of audiovisual data is segmented (208) and information is extracted from the stream of audiovisual data (210) and the textual summary (206). Finally, segments are selected (212) that carry information matching information carried by the textual summary. Summaries of films and series are abundantly available on the internet and are made by and for devotees, providing a reliable seed for creating a multimedia summary.

摘要: To control the sound output of various devices (1a, 1b, 1c, . . . ) a control unit (3) gathers information (I) on the sound output of the devices. Before a device starts producing sound, it submits a request (R) to the control unit. In response to the request, the control unit allocates a sound share (S) to the device on the basis of the sound information, the sound share involving a maximum volume. Thus the volume of any new sound is determined by the volume of the existing sound. An optional priority schedule may allow existing sound to be reduced in volume.

摘要: A method of creating a collection of relevant video segments (201,203) by selecting respective portions (222-234, 242-254) from a video stream (200) which corresponds to a program is disclosed. The collection of relevant video segments (201,203) can be applied as video trailer or as video abstract. Hence the duration of the collection of relevant video segments is relatively short compared with the duration of the program. The method comprises: receiving transcript information associated with the program, the transcript information comprising a plurality of sentences; detecting a first exclamatory syntactical element in a first one of the sentences; selecting a first one of the portions (202) from the video stream (200), which corresponds to the first exclamatory syntactical element; and associating the first one of the portions (202) with a first one of the relevant video segments.
