摘要: In one example embodiment, the applicator includes a base that has a first section, a second section and a weakened section which is between the first and second sections. The applicator further includes a first bladder and a second bladder. The first bladder is connected to a first outlet and the second bladder is connected to a second outlet. The first and second bladders are positioned on one side of the base such that neither of the first and second bladders overlaps the weakened section of the base. The applicator further includes a first material that is stored within the first bladder and a second material that is stored within the second bladder. When the base is folded at the weakened section, the first and second sections of the base force the materials from the first and second bladders through the respective first and second outlets.

摘要: Soft throughdried tissues, which are sufficiently soft to serve as premium bathroom tissues, can be made without the use of a Yankee dryer. The typical Yankee functions of building machine direction and cross-machine direction stretch are replaced by a wet end rush transfer and the throughdrying fabric design, respectively. It is particularly advantageous to form the tissue with chemimechanically treated fibers in at least one layer. The resulting tissues have high bulk (about 6 cubic centimeters per gram or greater) and low stiffness.

摘要: The present invention relates to an apparatus for applying a liquid coating onto an object. The apparatus includes a device that has a handle and a transfer medium which is attached to the handle. The apparatus further includes a cover that is attached to the device. The cover includes a closure element that is operable to open and close an end of the cover. When the end of the cover is open, the cover is movable between a first position where the cover protects the transfer medium and a second position where the cover protects the handle. In another example embodiment, the cover is formed of a removable first layer that is positioned adjacent to the transfer medium when the cover is in the first position and a removable second layer that is positioned adjacent to the handle when the cover is in the second position.

摘要: An absorbent article is provided that includes an electroactive display. The electroactive display may include an electrochromic composition positioned between two electrodes. The electroactive display is configured to create and exhibit an image that contains active features such as moving graphics or color-changing objects. For instance, the electroactive display may display an animated cartoon character or a moving vehicle. The electroactive display may also create symbols or words. When combined with sensors, a power source, and the proper circuitry, the electroactive display may be used, for instance, as a wetness indicator or to indicate the presence of a particular substance. In other embodiments, the electroactive display may be used solely for aesthetic purposes.

摘要: A tissue sheet is made using a modified wet pressing process employing an integrally sealed air press. After initial formation and conventional vacuum dewatering, the wet web is conformed to the surface contour of a relatively coarse fabric to give the web a textured surface. By creating a pressure differential across the web of at least 30 inches of mercury and an air stream through the web of at least 500 SCFM/in.sup.2, the air press noncompressively dewaters the wet web to a consistency of about 30 to about 40 percent prior to a Yankee dryer. The web is dried to substantially preserve its three-dimensional, throughdried-like texture. The resulting web has an exceptionally high degree of bulk and absorbency not previously found in wet-pressed products.

摘要: A composite material comprising a plurality of nanofibers intertwined with a plurality of coarse fibers to form one or more layers is provided. The nanofibers can be any suitable type of nanofiber, including electrospun fibers. A composite material comprising a plurality of electrospun fibers intertwined with a plurality of coarse fibers to form a single layer is also provided. A composite material comprising a plurality of electrospun fibers combined with a plurality of coarse fibers to form a plurality of layers, i.e., a multi-layer material, is also provided. In some embodiments, gradients in one or more directions are produced. Embodiments of the invention also provide processes for producing the composite nanofiber material. The materials are useful for any type of disposable garment, wipe, hospital garment, face mask, sterile wrap, air filter, water filter and so forth. Materials described herein can provide strong and varying surface effects, such as wicking. In one embodiment, hydrophobic fibers have a sufficiently small diameter to create a lotus effect.

摘要: In one example form, the present invention relates to a decal for treating a surface. The decal includes a web and an agent for treating the surface. The agent is attached to the web. The decal further includes a bonding material that attaches the decal to the surface. The bonding material is also attached to the web. In some embodiments, the agent may be attached to the web while in other embodiments the agent may form part of the web. In addition, the agent may be at least partially, or wholly, soluble in the web, or may be suspended in the web. In another form, the present invention relates to a method of treating a surface. The method includes attaching a decal to the surface and treating the surface with the decal. Attaching a decal to the surface may include adhering the decal to the surface with an adhesive.
