Abstract:
A process for producing a periodic structure comprises the steps of preparing a working object, the property of which changes in view of a photoreaction caused by an exciting energy, generating a light having a photonic energy of intensity of one fraction of natural number divisions of the exciting energy by each of the light sources of light-source groups arranged regularly in a two-dimensional arrangement, and concentrating the light emitted from the light source group at each of the light-concentrating points arranged at regular intervals in the working object to cause a photoreaction at and around the light-concentrating point to form a periodic structure comprised of regions each of which has a changed property in the working object.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for easily making a continuous oriented structure of a polymer are provided. In making a polymer assembly, single crystals are bonded to each other, an external force, such as an electrical field or a magnetic field, is applied to the single crystals, or a solution of the polymer is applied on a substrate such that the applied solution is linear in shape.
Abstract:
A compound represented by formula (I) wherein the symbols in the formula are the same meanings as those in specification, salts thereof, solvates thereof, or prodrugs thereof binds to DP receptor and shows antagonistic activity for DP receptor. Thus, it is useful for prevention and/or treatment of diseases such as allergic disease (e.g., allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, atopic dermatitis, bronchial asthma and food allergy), systemic mastocytosis, disorders accompanied by systemic mast cell activation, anaphylaxis shock, bronchoconstriction, urticaria, eczema, diseases accompanied by itch (e.g., atopic dermatitis and urticaria), diseases (e.g., cataract, retinal detachment, inflammation, infection and sleeping disorders) which is generated secondarily as a result of behavior accompanied by itch (e.g., scratching and beating), inflammation, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, ischemic reperfusion injury, cerebrovascular accident, chronic rheumatoid arthritis, pleurisy, ulcerative colitis, etc. Since it specifically binds to DP receptor and binds weakly to other prostaglandins receptors, they can be pharmaceuticals having little side effect.
Abstract:
An exposure apparatus includes a light-emitting portion arranged so as to be opposite to a photosensitive member at a position for exposure. A part of the light-emitting portion is smaller in width than a wavelength of light from the light-emitting portion.
Abstract:
In a self-servo writing method, servo data is re-recorded, and thereby, servo data having worsened recording quality is rewritten. According to the method, the servo data is recorded in an entire range on a disk medium, and thereafter, the servo write direction is switched to re-record the servo data in a range to an intermediate circumferential area on the disk medium. In this way, the servo data is re-recorded to correct servo data having worsened recording quality.
Abstract:
Provided an industrially excellent method of producing a phenol novolak resin having an ortho ratio of 30% or more by: (1) a method of reacting a phenol and an aldehyde using an oxalic acid catalyst at 110 to 160° C. under pressure; or (2) a method of reacting a phenol and an aldehyde under pressure while removing the heat of reaction by a condenser with controlling a pressure so that water or an organic solvent present in the reaction system is refluxed.
Abstract:
A perpendicular magnetic recording disk drive is discloses which performs a head positioning control operation effectively against a hard easy transition shift (HETS) phenomenon. In the disk drive, a CPU performs an offset correcting operation in positioning control mode after a seek operation, using an offset value set on the basis of the HETS phenomenon from a memory when data is recorded.
Abstract:
An information recording and/or reproducing apparatus for recording and/or reproducing information to/from a recording medium in a scanning probe microscope comprises a circuit to reproduce recording bits formed on the recording medium on the basis of a physical amount such as tunnel current, interatomic force, electrostatic force, or magnetic force which occurs between the probe and the recording medium, a sensor to detect a state such as film thickness or film quality of the recording medium on the basis of the physical amount before the recording bits are reproduced, and a correcting circuit to correct reproducing conditions such as a magnitude of a voltage which is applied between the probe and the medium on the basis of the detected state of the medium.
