    摘要: A matrix panel display apparatus includes plural signal lines and plural scanning lines intersecting each other and, near each intersection point, a picture element including a picture element electrode, a counter electrode, a display medium disposed between the picture element electrode and the counter electrode, and a transistor for applying image signals from the signal line to the picture element electrode. The transistor is controlled in response to scanning signals received on a scanning line. An auxiliary signal generating circuit generates auxiliary signals for increasing effective voltages of the image signals and applies the auxiliary signals to the picture elements while each of the transistors is in a non-conducting state and each of the picture elements is not selected. Preferably, the auxiliary signal generating circuit applies the auxiliary signals to the picture elements during a predetermined period in which all of the transistors are in the non-conducting state and none of the picture elements is selected.

The liquid crystal display device comprises a gate line GL with a gate electrode GT of thin-film transistor prepared on a first substrate SUB1 and used for applying a scan signal, a gate insulator film GI deposited to cover the gate line, a semiconductor layer nS/S formed in island-like shape on the gate insulator film and to constitute an active layer of the thin-film transistor, a source electrode SD1 and a drain electrode SD2 arranged on the gate insulator film and individually connected to said semiconductor layer, and a pixel electrode PX connected to the drain electrode SD2 wherein the gate line GL and the gate electrode GT, the source electrode SD1, the drain electrode SD2, and the pixel electrode PX are prepared by ink jet coating of a conductive solution in a region enclosed by banks G-BNK, SD-BNK, and P-BNK of the insulator film and by baking. The system requires no transparent electrode, being excellent in visual angle characteristic, being high in contrast, being small in cross-talk producing probability.

A cross-section of the reflecting plate is designed in such a form that the dual half-ellipses are aligned with each other, and that contours of the first ellipse and the second ellipse are divided by a straight line, which includes the commonly shared first focal point and the other focal points. The reflecting plate encloses the line light source by the dual half-ellipses and reflects a light from the line light source toward the diffusion plate arranged above by specular reflection and by diffused reflection. As a result, uneven brightness is eliminated at the boundary of the reflecting plate designed in form of dual half-ellipses.
