Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a polyurethane compound comprises mixing together a polyol, a polyisocyanate compound and a catalyst and allowing the mixture to cure to form a polyurethane, and is characterized in that the catalyst is a neutral complex of a metal selected from Ti, Zr, Hf, Al, Fe, Bi or Sn and a multidentate organic ligand having: a) a number of anionic donor sites=x; b) a number of neutral donor sites, capable of forming a co-ordinate bond with the metal, =y; c) where x+y=from 5 to 8; d) x is from 2 to 4; e) the ligand molecule is of a size and conformation to enable each of the anionic donor sites and neutral donor sites to form a bond with the same metal atom.
Abstract:
The present invention provides methods for the prevention, treatment and/or amelioration of fibrosis or fibrotic conditions. The present invention further provides small molecule inhibitors of Wnt- and TGF-p-mediated β-catenin signaling to prevent, treat and/or ameliorate fibrosis or fibrotic conditions. Kits comprising small molecule inhibitors of Wnt- and TGF-p-mediated β-catenin signaling and methods of identifying small molecule inhibitors of Wnt- and TGF-p-mediated β-catenin signaling are also provided.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to an antibody or antigen binding fragment having at least two receptor binding do mains for two different binding sites of LRP6 and compositions and methods of use thereof.
Abstract:
A guidance system may include an optical system to focus incident radiation onto a detector configured to generate at least one guidance signal in response to the focused incident radiation. The optical system may include a first lens having a first side and a second side, the first side consisting of a Fresnel lens formed on a generally convex surface and the second side being generally planar.
Abstract:
An improved carbonated protein beverage/drink composition which provides a relatively high protein content, ranging from about 2% by weight to about 15% by weight, while simultaneously employing a carbonation concentration between about 0.1 volumes of carbonation (per volume of liquid drink solution or liquid drink suspension) to about 4 volumes of carbonation. Preferably the protein is whey protein. The carbonated protein beverage may contain an additive which provides energy generation enhancement. The carbonated protein beverage is heat treated to inactivate microbes in the presence of the carbonation. Typically, the treatment for microbe inactivation is carried out in the individual package used for storage and handling of the carbonated protein drink.

Abstract:
An improved protein beverage/drink composition, is disclosed and provides a relatively high protein content, ranging from about 0.01% by weight to about 15% by weight, while optionally employing a carbonation concentration between about 0.1 volumes of carbonation (per volume of liquid drink solution or liquid drink suspension) to about 6 volumes of carbonation which is used to provide taste and mouth feel for the drink and which is also used to inactivate pathogenic microbes. Preferably the protein is a protein, such preferably as whey protein, or others. The protein beverage may contain an additive which provides energy generation enhancement. High pressure processing may also be used to inactivate microbes. The high pressure processing may be carried out prior to or after carbonation, and prior to or after packaging.
Abstract:
An all-optical cross-connect switching system provides optical switching that may reduce processing requirements by three orders of magnitude over conventional techniques by associating at least one optical detector with an optical beam steering element. In one embodiment, a first beam steering element, having a reflective surface in optical association with a first optical fiber array, and a second beam steering element, having a reflective surface in optical association with a second optical fiber array, are optically arranged to direct an optical beam from a first optical fiber in the first optical fiber array to a second optical fiber in the second optical fiber array. The optical detector provides information about a first position of the optical beam on the second beam steering element. Based on this information, the angle of the first beam steering element may be adjusted to cause the optical beam to change to a second position on the second beam steering element.
Abstract:
A monitoring system is disclosed, suitable particularly for a prison or similar environment, comprising a network having at least two computers, one or more condition-sensing and or monitoring devices, the system being arranged to enable any one of the computers to act as a server at any time, comprising a hierarchical list installed on each computer listing the priority by which the computers can become servers and a priority of threads operating on each computer, said priority of threads including a first thread arranged to check whether each other computer is active and a second thread adapted to use the hierarchical list and data determined via the first thread to determine which computer is to be used as a server.
