摘要： A magnetic brush development station for developing latent image charge patterns supported on a moving image support member of an electrostatographic reproduction apparatus. The magnetic brush development station includes a housing located in operative association with an extended run of the image support member. The housing has a portion constituting a sump for developer material, and a portion defining an opening facing the image support member. Further, the magnetic brush development station includes an applicator for applying developer material to a latent image charge pattern on the image support member to develop such latent image charge pattern. The applicator includes a sleeve located in the last mentioned portion of the housing, above the developer material sump, the sleeve having a development surface operatively associated with the image support member through the opening and configured to complementarily conform to the run of the image support member to define an extended uniform development zone. A plurality of rotatable magnets are located adjacent to the underside of the development surface of the sleeve to move developer material through the development zone.

摘要： There is provided a toner composition which comprises a binder and a colorant, wherein said binder comprises a copolymer of a vinyl aromatic monomer; a second monomer selected from the group consisting of conjugated diene monomers or acrylate monomers selected from the group consisting of alkyl acrylate monomers and alkyl methacrylate monomers; a third monomer which is a crosslinking agent; a fourth monomer which is an adhesion promoting vinyl monomer containing a hydroxyl group; and a fifth monomer which is a charge control vinyl monomer containing an amine group. In a preferred embodiment, the binder further comprises the acid form of an amino acid soap which is the salt of an alkyl sarcosine having an alkyl group which contains from about 10 to about 20 carbon atoms. In additional preferred embodiments, the toner compositions of the invention further include a charge control agent. In other preferred embodiments, the toner compositions of the invention are used with a carrier. The toner compositions show a good combination of adhesion and charge stability.

A measurable portion of the .alpha.-phase poly(vinylidene fluoride) is then converted to .beta.-phase poly(vinylidene fluoride) by subjecting the .alpha.-phase poly(vinylidene fluoride) to a series of viscoelastic collisions having a total energy of from about 5.times.10.sup.4 to about 5.times.10.sup.5 Joules/kilogram of poly(vinylidene fluoride).

摘要： Pressure-sensitive, heat-fusible, encapsulated toner particles are provided which have very uniform size and physical characteristics. A method for making the particles is provided wherein a latex copolymer functions as a stabilizer controlling particle size of the core composition of the toner particles. The latex copolymer becomes the shell composition thereof. The particles are particularly useful in a process for transferring a toned image comprised of such particles from a photoconductor to a receiver.

摘要： A method for creating a scratch-off document having hidden information, the method includes providing a substrate; depositing a first layer of first toner particles on the substrate, wherein the first layer includes at least two thicknesses in which one region is thicker than the other region; depositing a second layer of toner particles on the first layer, wherein the first toner particles have a different thermal conductivity than the second toner particles; and applying heat to the first and second layers simultaneously so that the first layer adheres to the substrate in regions of the lesser thickness of the first toner particles and does not adhere in the regions of greater thickness of the first toner particles; wherein the first and second layers in the regions of greater thickness of the first toner layer can be removed thereby revealing hidden information.
