摘要: A method for forming an acetabular shell includes providing a working surface such as a mandrel, and spraying the working surface with a first layer of material having a first composition such as aluminum oxide. After a suitable thickness is generated, the spray composition is gradually changed to other compositions having desired particle sizes and distribution. In one example, the composition is changed to a mixture of aluminum oxide and titanium oxide and/or titanium. As thickness builds up, the relative amount of aluminum oxide is decreased such that the composition is all titanium and titanium oxide. After a desired thickness is generated, the acetabular shell is extracted off the mandrel.

摘要: An approach provides interactive troubleshooting. A robotic chat application receives a service inquiry over a chat session from a chat-enabled device, wherein the service inquiry is associated with a service provider network. A troubleshooting engine collects information from a user of the chat-enabled device regarding the service inquiry. The robotic chat application retrieves a flow definition and an associated query corresponding to the service inquiry based upon the collected information. The troubleshooting engine generates a command, based on the query, for resolving the service inquiry.

摘要: Methods for distributing a random variable by spatial interpolation with statistical corrections. The method includes assigning a numerical value of the random variable at each vertex of an array of equilateral triangles formed in a planar coordinate frame and defining a plurality of test points at respective spatial locations in the planar coordinate frame that are bounded by the array of equilateral triangles. A numerical value of the random variable is distributed at each of the test points by spatial interpolation from one or more of the numerical values of the random variable assigned at each vertex of the array of equilateral triangles. The method further includes adjusting the numerical value of the random variable distributed at each of the test points with a respective correction factor.

摘要: A flush and fill process is used to ready a fuel cell cooling circuit for initial use. An external flushing system relasably connected to the cooling circuit circulates flushing coolant through the cooling circuit to remove contaminants from the wetted surfaces of the cooling circuit before the fuel cell is put into use. The flushing system includes a pump for circulating the flushing coolant through the cooling circuit, filters for removing contaminants from the coolant and a heater for elevating the temperature of the coolant. Following the flushing process to remove contaminants, the flushing system is disconnected from the cooling circuit and the cooling circuit is filled with fresh coolant.

摘要: The present invention is a system and method to significantly reduce noise associated with air-moving devices such as an axial flow fan using a fan shroud and barrel combination with built in silencers such as Helmholtz resonators. The invention can be applied to a variety of applications such as a thermal management system for a fuel cell powered vehicle. The resonator can be a hollow cavity in networks attached to an outer or inner barrel or shroud and tuned to reduce noise at predetermined noise frequency ranges within the airflow. The invention can also attach stator members on the inner surface of the outer barrel to further reduce noise. Additional sound absorbing material, such as steel wool, can be disposed within the resonator cavity.

摘要: A novel pump pressure limiting method for preventing coolant in a cooling system from reaching pressures that exceed predetermined system coolant pressure limits. The method includes reducing the system coolant pressure, as needed to prevent system over-pressurization, by reducing the operational speed of a coolant pump used to pump the coolant through the system. In one embodiment, the system coolant pressure is determined directly, by measurement of the pressure of the coolant in the system typically using pressure sensors. The operational speed of the coolant pump is then reduced until the system coolant pressure decreases to within the predetermined pressure limits. In another embodiment, the system pressure is determined indirectly, by obtaining pressure-indicating data such as coolant temperature. The coolant system pressure is then correlated with the coolant temperature or other data and then the operational speed of the coolant pump is reduced accordingly.

摘要: A method and system for creating a worst case scenario model for a given integrated circuit. The method comprises the steps of sorting skew parameters of each device into groups; and assigning a positive or negative value for each one of the groups to represent the effect of the corresponding skew parameters on the functionality of the integrated circuit. The preferred embodiment of the invention provides some of the benefits of both conventional corner simulation and Monte Carlo simulation. This approach can be implemented with only a few additional simulation iterations, which mitigates the disadvantage of Monte Carlo simulations requiring many simulation iterations. Also, this approach allows a greater degree of flexibility with respect to determining a specific corner file definition, allowing the designer to explore a greater area of model parameter space to insure that the circuit will meet performance requirements over extremes of process technology variation.
