摘要： The process for the production of a dimeric, biologically active Transforming Growth Factor type .beta. (TGF-.beta.)-like protein or a salt thereof, comprising refolding the denatured monomeric form of the protein in the presence of a mild detergent that permits folding of the monomeric protein into a spatial conformation, which after dimerization, is the conformation associated with the biological activity, while retaining the monomeric protein in soluble form. Mild detergents include sulfobetaines, 3-(3-chlolamidopropyl)dimethylammonio-1-propanesulfonate, 3-(3-chlolamidopropyl)dimethylammonio-2-hydroxy-1-propane-sulfonate, digitonin, cholate and deoxycholate at a concentration of about 1 to 100 mM. Compositions containing a TGF-.beta.-like protein produced according the invention can be used for the promotion and acceleration of wound healing and bone and tissue repair, cancer treatment, bone marrow protective agent, as a mediator of cardio-protection, as an anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressive agent, or as a growth regulator in mammalian cell cultures.

摘要： To promote ease of use, as well as a reduction in bit error rates during extended data exchange between a coupled NFC tag/reader pair, signal strength is measured from a plurality of NFC tag antennas each positioned differently with respect to a common reader field, and differences in signal strength are used to determine an optimum positioning of the tag, or tag emulator, with respect to the reader. Alternative embodiments may include signal time of flight for determining orientation of the NFC antennas within the reader field. Information is generated by the tag, or tag emulator, and output by the tag, or tag emulator, such that a user may direct the positioning of the tag, or tag emulator, for improved communication with the reader.

According to an embodiment of the present invention, responsive to receiving a request for presence information associated with a presentity from a watcher, the presence system receives instructions indicating that an authorization instance other than the presentity shall be given an opportunity to change or verify an authorization rule associated with the request for presence information. As a consequence, the presence system notifies the authorization instance of the request for presence information, thereby enabling the authorization instance to change or verify the authorization rule. The presence system also makes a final decision on the authorization rule on the basis of the instructions and a notification indicating a change or verification of the authorization rule.
