    摘要: In an anomaly monitoring device, in which an output signal from an encoder is input as an analog input signal via a wiring system, for detecting anomalies in the encoder or the wiring system, provided are a voltage level based device, a pulse number based device and a pulse width based device. The voltage level based device detects anomalies when the voltage level of the analog input signal exists within a prescribed range. The pulse number based device detects anomalies when the difference in the numbers of pulses of digital signals corresponding to the analog input signals is equal to or greater than a prescribed threshold value. The pulse width based device detects anomalies when the pulse width of the digital signals, measured from a combined signal of the digital signals or each of the digital signals, is different from the pulse width in a past control period.

    摘要: In an optical interferometer, polarization dependence attributable to the optical path difference has conventionally been eliminated by inserting a half-wave plate at the center of the interferometer. However, light induced by polarization coupling produced in directional couplers used in the optical interferometer causes interference having different interference conditions from those of the normal light. Polarization rotators that effect any one of 90° rotation and −90° rotation of all states of polarization of incoming light are inserted in the optical interferometer, and thereby the interference conditions of light induced by polarization coupling are made the same as those of the normal light. Each of the polarization rotators is implemented by using two half-wave plates and by varying an angle of combination of these half-wave plates. Alternatively, each of the polarization rotators is implemented through a combination of one half-wave plate and a waveguide having birefringence properties.

The interferometer optical switch employs a phase generating coupler, the phase difference of the output of which has wavelength dependence, as at least one of the optical multi/demultiplexing device included in the interferometer optical switch. A wavelength insensitive interferometer optical switch is implemented by making the sum 2π{φ1(λ)+φΔL(λ)+φ2(λ)} constant regardless of the wavelength, where φ1(λ) is the phase produced by the first optical multi/demultiplexing device, 2πφΔL(λ) is the phase difference of the optical delay line with an optical path length difference of ΔL, and 2πφ2(λ) is the phase produced by the second optical multi/demultiplexing device.
