    摘要: An optical wavelength multi/demultiplexer having transmission characteristics with a higher rectangular degree than a conventional one includes an AWG and two-stage lattice circuit. An example of a two-stage lattice circuit according to the present invention includes an input waveguide, a third optical coupler, a third and fourth arm waveguides, a second optical coupler, a first and second arm waveguides, a first optical coupler, and output waveguides. The optical path length differences between the third and fourth arm waveguides and between the first and second arm waveguides are designed to be ΔL. The path passing the third and first arm waveguides differs by 2·ΔL in optical length from that the fourth and second arm waveguides. The paths passing the third and second arm waveguides and passing the fourth and first arm waveguides differ by ΔL from that passing the fourth and second arm waveguides.

    摘要: A photochromic lens manufacturing system has an orderer side computer (101) and a manufacturer side computer (201) connected with each other through a communication line (300), and is adapted to manufacture a photochromic lens with an optical surface forming device (204), a photochromic film forming device (202) and a hard film forming device (204) under control of the manufacturer side computer (201). The orderer side computer (101) transmits lens substrate data related to a substrate material of the lens, optical surface data related to optical surfaces of the lens, data related to the photochromic film and data related to a hard film to the manufacturer side computer (201) through the communication line (300).The manufacturer side computer (201) comprises: a lens substrate selecting means adapted to select a lens substrate formed of a suitable material based on the lens substrate data received from the orderer side computer; an optical surface forming data selecting means adapted to select suitable optical surface forming data based on the optical surface data and output the selected data to the optical surface forming device (202); a photochromic film forming data selecting means adapted to select forming data of the photochromic film based on the data related to the photochromic film, and output the selected data to the photochromic film forming device (203); and a hard film forming data selecting means adapted to select forming data of the hard film based on the data related to the hard film, and output the selected data to the hard film forming device (204).

    摘要: In an optical interferometer, polarization dependence attributable to the optical path difference has conventionally been eliminated by inserting a half-wave plate at the center of the interferometer. However, light induced by polarization coupling produced in directional couplers used in the optical interferometer causes interference having different interference conditions from those of the normal light. Polarization rotators that effect any one of 90° rotation and −90° rotation of all states of polarization of incoming light are inserted in the optical interferometer, and thereby the interference conditions of light induced by polarization coupling are made the same as those of the normal light. Each of the polarization rotators is implemented by using two half-wave plates and by varying an angle of combination of these half-wave plates. Alternatively, each of the polarization rotators is implemented through a combination of one half-wave plate and a waveguide having birefringence properties.

    摘要: An image input device is disclosed that employs a generic interface. Upon connection of the image input device to a host device, an interface control circuit causes the host device to recognize the image input device as a removable device. The interface control circuit then executes a response to the host device indicating that a disk medium is not inserted while an image reading construct is reading an image, converts the digital data to image data of a file format such as MS-DOS that can be read by the host device and stores the data to RAM. The interface control circuit then executes a response to the host device indicating that a disk medium is an inserted state when the image reading construct completes reading of the image.
