    摘要: An optical waveguide device expands the operable frequency range toward the higher frequency side. The device includes a single-mode optical resonator waveguide serving as an optical ring resonator, a single-mode optical input/output waveguide located close to the resonator waveguide in an area, and a Mach-Zehnder interferometer formed in such a way as to include a part of the resonator waveguide as its first optical waveguide arm and a part of the input/output waveguide as its second optical waveguide arm in the area. The interferometer has a first optical coupler for optically coupling the first and second waveguide arms with an input-side part of the input/output waveguide and a remaining part of the resonator waveguide due to multiple-mode optical interference, and a second optical coupler for optically coupling the first and second waveguide arms with an output-side part of the input/output waveguide and the remaining part of the resonator waveguide due to multiple-mode optical interference.

The semiconductor laser has an active layer between two semiconductor layers and different conduction types and current block layers surrounding the active layer. One of the semiconductor layers has a first growth layer and a second growth layer formed on the first growth layer by a re-growth process after a growth process for the first growth layer. The doping concentration of the first growth layer, in the region of the interface with the second growth layer, is in the range of between 1.5 to 5 times the doping concentration of the second growth layer.

    摘要: Proposed is a novel negative-working chemical-sensitization photoresist composition used in the photolithographic patterning work for the manufacture of semiconductor devices and the like and capable of giving a patterned resist layer with high sensitivity and pattern resolution as well as excellent heat resistance and excellently orthogonal cross sectional profile of the patterned resist layer. The composition comprises, as a uniform solution:(A) 100 parts by weight of an alkali-soluble resin which is a polyhydroxystyrene-based resin having a weight-average molecular weight of at least 2000;(B) from 3 to 70 parts by weight of an acid-crosslinkable compound which is an amino resin having hydroxyalkyl and/or alkoxyalkyl groups;(C) from 0.5 to 30 parts by weight of a radiation-sensitive acid-generating compound selected from several types of specific oximesulfonate compounds; and(D) from 0.5 to 10 parts by weight of a phenolic compound, such as benzophenone compounds, having at least four hydroxyl groups in a molecule and a molecular weight smaller than 2000.

    摘要: An optical pickup apparatus includes: a laser light source; a light converging optical system for converging a light beam emitted from the laser light source onto a first information recording surface of a first optical information recording medium having a thickness t1 of a transparent substrate, or a second information recording surface of a second optical information recording medium having a thickness t2 of a transparent substrate. The light converging optical system has a best fit wavefront aberration of 0.07 .lambda. rms or less at a numerical aperture of NA1 when the thickness t1 of the transparent substrate is used, and has a best fit wavefront aberration of 0.07 .lambda. rms or less at a numerical aperture of NA2 when the thickness t2 of the transparent substrate is used, where NA1 represents a numerical aperture on a side of the first optical information recording medium in the light converging optical system when the light beam emitted from the laser light source is converged as a light spot to be read out, NA2 represents an effective numerical aperture on a side of the second optical information recording medium in the light converging optical system when the light beam emitted from the laser light source is converged as a light spot to be read out, and .lambda. represents a wavelength of the light beam emergent from the laser light source. The optical pickup apparatus further includes a light detector for detecting light reflected from the first or second information recording surface.
