In response to a relevant change in an external condition, the signal has an energy content allowing the microcontroller to activate a ready mode, the ready mode causing the system to perform at least the following prior to turning the toothbrush on: switching on one or more of the electric loads for a preset period; enabling a wireless communication link between toothbrush and device; and exchanging data between toothbrush and device as part of the wireless communication.

    摘要: This invention is a toothbrush with usage indicator for use in connection with personal dental hygiene. Most people continue to use the same toothbrush, even when it no longer provides the quality needed to maintain good dental hygiene. An old toothbrush typically has worn bristles which fail to clean the teeth and gums properly. In addition, a toothbrush that has been used for a long time tends to have a build up of bacteria on it, posing a potential health problem for the user. The toothbrush with usage indicator has particular utility in connection with knowing when it is time to replace a toothbrush, employing a battery-operated counter which turns on a red light when the toothbrush needs to be discarded. The counter is loaded with a predetermined value, for example 45, which correlates to the number of times the toothbrush should be used before being discarded. A push button on the handle of the toothbrush allows the user to decrement the counter each time the toothbrush is used. While the counter value is 4 or greater, a green light is displayed, but when the value drops below 4, a red light is displayed. The red light indicates that the toothbrush should be replaced.

A portion of the fluorescent emission is collected (APV1), and compared to a predetermined threshold value (PPTV). If APV1 is less than PPTV, the device is moved to another section. If APV1 is greater than or equal to PPTV, then another portion of fluorescent emission is collected (APV2). The percent reduction from APV1 to APV2 determines when the device is moved to another section.
