Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a slip-resistant patch for a tongue bulb that includes a perimeter portion and a planar body. The perimeter portion defines a shape and size of the slip-resistant patch while the planar body is defined by the perimeter portion of the slip-resistant patch. The planar body is configured to contour to a surface of a tongue bulb. The planar body includes a first major surface and an opposing second major surface. The first major surface includes a textured material while the second major surface includes an adhesive material. The textured material is configured to be positioned on a surface of an oral cavity and maintain position on the surface of the oral cavity throughout lingual movement within the oral cavity. The adhesive material is of a pressure sensitive material and is configured to adhere to the surface of the tongue bulb.
Abstract:
An intraoral moisture measuring device includes: a swing member that swings with respect to a main body about a predetermined swing center; a moisture amount detection unit provided at a tip of the swing member, for detecting a moisture amount by being directly or indirectly abutted against a measurement site in a mouth; and a biasing member for biasing the swing member in one of swing directions. Consequently, the intraoral moisture measuring device is capable of measuring intraoral moisture in a simple and highly-accurate manner.
Abstract:
An examination device for use with a mobile device comprises a housing removably coupled to the mobile device. The housing may be coupled to the mobile device by a rear surface, opposing side surfaces, a top surface, and a retention lip that extends over the front of the mobile device. A retention structure may be mechanically coupled to the housing and may also define a rectangular slot. A tongue depressor may be retained by the retention structure and may also extend away from the rectangular slot. A cutaway may be defined by a wall of the housing. The cutaway may be positioned on the housing to expose a camera of the mobile device facing towards the end of the tongue depressor. The examination device is configured to manipulate an oral feature of a mouth while the camera of the mobile device captures an image of the mouth.
Abstract:
A system comprises a scanner, an augmented reality (AR) display and a computing device. The scanner generates intraoral images of a dental arch and the AR display generates additional image data representative of a view from a wearer of the AR display. The computing device receives the intraoral images from the intraoral scanner, generates a virtual three-dimensional model of at least a portion of the dental arch from the intraoral images, receives the additional image data from the AR display, determines, from the additional image data, a region of the view that is outside of the dental arch, generates a visual overlay comprising the virtual three-dimensional model, and sends the visual overlay to the AR display. The AR display displays the visual overlay such that the virtual three-dimensional model is shown in the region of the view that is outside of the dental arch.
Abstract:
A device for measuring differences in conductivity that allows early detection of infectious/inflammatory periodental and/or apical diseases or in joint and/or muscle regions, before they can even be detected radiologically. The device has an electrical emitter in millivolts, with a given negative-peak square wave and a given frequency, both defined by a pulse width and interval between pulses, which, by means of two electrodes, one stationary and one movable, is able to produce a mild tingling sensation on the patient's skin immediately over the teeth apices or joint and/or muscle regions as well as dermatological, glandular and integumentary areas affected by inflammation and/or infection and display the intensity of the condition affecting the tissue to the professional on an illuminated scale display.
Abstract:
Devices and methods for treating obstructive sleep apnea by first performing an assessment of the patient that involves observing the patient's upper airway during a tongue protrusion maneuver. The assessment may, for example, be done using endoscopy to observe the upper airway while the patient is awake in the supine position. An adequate response of the upper airway during the tongue protrusion maneuver is indicative of likely therapeutic success with hypoglossal nerve stimulation, and may be used for making clinical decisions. The principles of the present invention may be applied to other therapeutic interventions for OSA involving the upper airway.
Abstract:
An apparatus (100, 100′) is configured such that passage of a fluid (30) through an open port (136, 2604) of a distal probe tip (112, 112′) enables detection of a substance (116) that may be present on a surface (31, 33), e.g., a surface of a tooth, based on measurement of a signal correlating to a substance at least partially obstructing the passage of fluid (30) through the open port (136, 2604). The apparatus (100, 100′) includes a proximal pump portion (124) and at least one distal probe portion (110) configured to be immersed in another fluid (11), e.g., water in toothpaste foam. A corresponding system (3000) includes one or two such apparatuses (3100, 3200). A method of detecting the presence of a substance on a surface includes probing an interaction zone (17) for at least partial obstruction of flow of the fluid (30) through the distal probe tip (112, 112′). The distal probe tip (112, 112′) may have a structural configuration for preventing blocking of the open port (136, 2604). The distal probe tip (112, 112′) may also have a non-uniform wear profile. The at least one distal probe portion (110) may include two or multiple components to improve performance and reliability.
Abstract:
A level-of-health determining device includes: a characteristic quantity acceptor to which a characteristic quantity extracted from a taken image of an organ of an examinee to be used for level-of-health determination is input; and a determiner which compares the examinee's characteristic quantity input via the characteristic quantity acceptor with a distribution of a characteristic quantity of a population and which thereby determines a disparity of the examinee's physical constitution, which corresponds to an individual difference from other people, and a change of the examinee's physical condition. When determining the disparity of the examinee's physical constitution, the determiner uses, as the distribution of the population's characteristic quantity, a distribution of a characteristic quantity of the other people. When determining the change of the examinee's physical condition, the determiner uses, as the distribution of the population's characteristic quantity, a distribution of the examinee's own characteristic quantity.
Abstract:
Gingiva indexing devices and methods with various defined red colour regions have a colour grey card or grey card assigned to it for detecting the gingiva status, in particular for producing a gingival restoration. The devices and method comprise an analysis of at least one region of the gingiva status with regard to its shades of red, the position of the shades of red, the colour profile of the shades of red, their geometry and/or their morphology. The analysis can take place manually and/or digitally, and gingiva information is obtained, in particular in the form of a gingiva map, and optional production of a virtual or real model of a gingival restoration as a reproduction of the missing part of the gums and/or part of gingiva.
Abstract:
An organ image photographing apparatus includes an imaging unit, an image processing unit, and a detecting unit. The imaging unit obtains an image by photographing a living organ. The image processing unit creates a frequency distribution of image data including any of red, green, and blue color components from the photographed image of the organ obtained by the imaging unit, and obtains an index indicating a spread of the frequency distribution. The detecting unit detects a crack in a surface of the organ based on the index.
