摘要: A surgical instrument includes a hub, a rotating member, an impeller, and an impeller enclosure. The hub has a proximal portion and a distal portion and defines a lumen therebetween. The distal portion of the hub includes a sleeve portion configured to rotatably support the rotating member. The rotating member extends through the hub and has a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end of the rotating member is configured to couple to an external driving mechanism. The impeller is coupled to the distal end of the rotating member and is configured to accelerate fluid flowing into or out of the lumen. The impeller enclosure is coupled to the distal portion of the hub and defines an impeller volume around the impeller. One or more openings are defined around the sleeve portion of the hub such that the lumen is in fluid communication with the impeller volume.

摘要: A manually operable pump for the effective removal of fluids to include blood, blood clots, fluid, and air from a body cavity of a subject is provided. The manually operable pump is adapted to be connect to a range of fluid conduits and is equipped with one-way valves that effectively permit flow of fluid through the pump in only one direction. The sensitivity of the one-way valves is such that when properly positioned, fluid can flow through the valves and out of the pump without manual compression of the pump and with the aid of gravity power alone.

摘要: In various embodiments of the invention, an electro-vacuum pump can be used either as a stand alone unit to create, monitor and control a vacuum or to maintain, assist or as a back up for a hand operated pump in a variety of surgical procedures. The vacuum pump is controlled by a processor and is automatically activated when the vacuum is below a pre-selected parameter or a parameter selected on the fly by the surgeon. Visual or audio feedback is used to allow the surgeon increased control of the vacuum device while carrying out the surgical procedure.

摘要: A vacuum system for draining an open wound from liquids exuded therefrom, comprising an enclosure sealable to the wound circumference, a vacuum pump including a disposable pump unit detachably attachable to a non-disposable drive unit, and a waste container for collection of drained liquids. The enclosure has an outlet connected by means of a tube to an inlet of the pump unit and the waste container is connected to an outlet of the pump unit, such that when the vacuum pump is operated the drained liquids flow through the vacuum pump. The enclosure has one or more bleeding holes provided therethrough or adjacent to its outlet so that ambient air may enter the tube and flow together with the drained liquids. The enclosure and the waste container are disposable so that the drained liquids contact only disposable elements and may be disposed of together with all disposable elements

摘要: A device and method for elevating skin, subcutaneous tissue, and muscle of a patient during medical procedure, the device comprises at least one opening, a suction port and a ring liner having means for a soft interface between the device and the skin and provides a positive seal between the device and the skin. The opening is located at the top of the device having means for inserting surgical instruments within the patient's body cavity created by separation of the skin, subcutaneous tissue and muscle from the underlying organs. The said method comprises the steps of placing the device on the patient's target medical interventional area for elevating the said area; exerting negative pressure onto the target body area of the patient through the suction port and inserting surgical instruments into patient's abdomen for medical procedure through the opening at the top.

摘要: A negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) system creates and maintains a sub-atmospheric pressure within a sealed wound environment for the purpose of healing wounds. The NPWT system includes a wound interface material, a housing, an osmotic membrane, and an evacuation port. The wound interface material contacts a wound region and absorbs exudate from the wound region. The housing defines a cavity in an interior space of the housing. The osmotic membrane is coupled to the wound interface material to transfer a fluid of the exudate from the wound interface material to the cavity of the housing. The evacuation port is also coupled to the wound interface material to facilitate passage of a gas out of the wound interface material to create a negative pressure at the wound region.
