摘要:
A nasal cannula assembly is disclosed having a face mount part, in use resting against a user's face, which includes at least one nasal prong capable of being fitted into a person's nares. The cannula assembly also includes a manifold part, in fluid communication with the face mount part, having a single horizontal side gases entry. In particular, this cannula assembly is for supplying heated, humidified gases to a patient suffering from COPD. A tie or lanyard is disclosed for use with a breathing assistance apparatus such as a nasal cannula, face or nasal mask or tracheostomy connector. The tie or lanyard transfers the weight of the conduits supplying gases to the breathing assistance apparatus from the breathing assistance apparatus and distributes it onto the neck of the patient.

The present invention provides a cost effective customization of user interface devices for use with respiratory ventilation systems, such as face masks that may be used for CPAP therapy. By integrating a user specific customize element (15) into a pre-fabricated user interface device (10), increased comfort for a user during use of the interface device (10) is provided. The customized element (15) is adapted to affect the shape of the user interface device making it compliant with at least one user specific body feature, for example, a facial feature of a particular user. The shape of the customized element may be computed from a user specific data set representing an e.g. three-dimensional shape at least one body feature of a user.

For reducing a discomfort feeling brought by wearing a breathing mask, a wearing tool for the breathing mask which covers nostrils of a user and supplies gas for breathing to the nostrils comprises a pair of connecting members each of which has a longitudinal shape and has a first end portion which is connected to the breathing mask, and a pair of fixing members each of which is connected to a second end portion of the fixing member and is plugged in the tragus of the user. Hence a discomfort feeling due to restraining around the head of the user can be reduced.

A mask system for providing respiratory therapy to the airways of a patient includes a frame, a sealing arrangement adapted to form a seal with the patient's nose and/or mouth, an elbow, and headgear to maintain the mask system in position on the patient's face. The frame has a main body and a forehead support extending from a top end of the main body. The forehead support includes an upper headgear connector, and the main body includes a lower headgear connector. The sealing arrangement is structured to interface with the frame. The sealing arrangement comprises a cushion having a face-contacting side and a non face-contacting side.

A mask assembly for therapy of Sleep Disordered Breathing may include: a cushion having a seal forming portion that is structured to form a seal with only the patient's nose in use, the cushion defining at least in part an interior chamber; a shell assembly including a generally rigid shell, the generally rigid shell having a port that opens into the interior chamber, the generally rigid shell including an exhalation vent for venting exhaled gas, an air inlet tube in fluid communication with the cushion to supply breathable gas from a pressurized supply to the interior chamber; and a swivel and an elbow attached to the air inlet tube, the swivel and the elbow configured to be attached to an air supply conduit, wherein the swivel and the elbow are positioned superior to the patient's head in use, and wherein the mask assembly does not contact the patient's forehead in use.

In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a mask for achieving positive pressure mechanical ventilation (inclusive of CPAP, ventilator support, critical care ventilation, emergency applications), and a method for a operating a ventilation system including such mask. The mask of the present invention includes a piloted exhalation valve that is used to achieve the target pressures/flows to the patient. The pilot for the valve may be pneumatic and driven from the gas supply tubing from the ventilator. The pilot may also be a preset pressure derived in the mask, a separate pneumatic line from the ventilator, or an electro-mechanical control. Additionally, the valve can be implemented with a diaphragm or with a flapper.

A patient interface that is comfortable for a user to wear is disclosed. The patient interface includes a forehead rest and cushion. In particular the cushion includes a deformable resilient member that when compressed creates a uniformly and gradually increasing force while evenly distributing the pressure on the forehead of the patient.
摘要:
A cushion comprises a substantially triangularly shaped frame from which extends a membrane. The membrane is spaced away from the rim of the frame, and its outer surface is of substantially the same shape as the rim. The seal forming portion thus contacts both the surface of the wearer's nose and a portion of the wearer's face. The shape of the seal forming portion is particularly suited to effectively seal the difficult region of the facial contour that is the crease between the sides of the nose and the face.

A patient interface device includes a fluid coupling member structured to be coupled to a source of breathing gas, and a patient sealing assembly structured to be coupled to the fluid coupling member. The patient sealing assembly includes a central cushion portion, a first side portion and a second side portion, wherein the central cushion portion is structured to enable a size of the central cushion portion to be adjusted in a direction that is generally perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the patient sealing assembly from a first size configured to provide a nasal/oral mask configured to cover a nose and mouth of a patient to a second size configured to provide a nasal mask configured to cover only the nose of the patient.
