Abstract:
It is an object of the present invention to reduce the abrasion at a pressure receiving portion of the cylinder block, without increasing the manufacturing cost, even when the outer rings of a bearing are jointly rotated and eccentrically fluctuated. The cylinder blocks are made of aluminum alloy comprising, by weight, 1.5 to 3.5% of Cu, 13 to 16% of Si, 0.5% or less of Mg, 1.0% or less of Zn, 1.0% or less of Fe and the remainder of Al. The matrix, except for primary Si crystal, is relatively soft. Primary Si crystals which each independently project from the pressure receiving portions tend to be pushed into the base material by the outer rings of the thrust bearings, so that the levels of primary Si crystals are easily made to be approximately uniform. As a result, the interference and thrust load from the outer rings can be appropriately supported by a large number of primary Si crystals, and a jointly rotating motion and an eccentric fluctuation can be appropriately supported by a large number of primary Si crystals under severe operating conditions.
Abstract:
A rotary vane compressor comprises a cylinder having two closed ends defining a cylinder chamber in which is rotatably mounted a rotor. The rotor carries a plurality of radially movable vanes which move radially into sliding contact with the inner surface of the cylinder chamber during rotation of the rotor to compress a refrigerant gas. The rotor is rotationally driven by a rotor shaft rotatably mounted by bearings in the cylinder ends. To prevent destruction of the ozone layer, a refrigerant containing no chlorine, such as HFC-134a (1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane; CH.sub.2 FCF.sub.3) is used, and to compensate for the inferior lubricating properties of the chlorine-free refrigerant, the bearings are provided with a manganese phosphate coating of 10 .mu.m-15 .mu.m thickness to prevent cohesion and seizure of the mutually contacting surfaces of the bearings and rotor shaft.
Abstract:
A rotor for a rotary screw machine having helical lobes and intermediate grooves, the rotor having a core including a shaft 1 of a first material and a rotor body 2 of a second material mounted on the shaft. The surface of the rotor is coated with a plastic layer 3.
Abstract:
A method for producing a housing for a rotary piston engine, a shell housing, and a housing for a rotary piston engine, are disclosed. A bushing of hard metal is pressed into a shell housing main body with a trochoidal raceway in such a manner that an external circumferential contour of the bushing bears in a sealing manner on the trochoidal raceway and the trochoidal raceway is cladded via the bushing.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an air compressor (10) for supplying compressed air to a pneumatic system in a motor vehicle. The air compressor (10) comprises a crankcase (46), a cylinder housing (14) connected to the crankcase, a cylinder head (20), a crankshaft (40) rotatably mounted in the crankcase, a cylindrical piston (12) that is connected to the crankshaft (40) by a connecting rod (42). In order to load the compressed air with as little heat as possible, the crankcase (46), the cylinder housing (14), the cylinder head (20), and the piston (12) are made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy, and the at least one piston ring (54) or the at least one oil ring is made of gray cast iron or polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for coating a running surface (2) of a trochoid housing (1) of a rotary engine, characterized in that a circumferential recess (5) is made in the running surface (2), which recess (5) is delimited by a land (6) at at least one transition region to a side face (3) of the trochoid housing (1). Furthermore, the invention relates to a trochoid housing (1) having a coated running surface (2).
Abstract:
A rotary pump having a variable delivery volume, including: a casing; a delivery chamber formed in the casing; at least one delivery rotor which is rotatable in the delivery chamber; an actuating member which is arranged facing a front face of the delivery rotor or surrounds the delivery rotor, and is moveable in the casing for adjusting the delivery volume; the actuating member chargeable with an actuating force which is dependent on a fluid requirement; a track which is formed in the casing and guides the actuating member on an actuating member sliding surface in a sliding contact; and a sliding material which forms at least one of the track and the actuating member sliding surface.
Abstract:
A sacrificial body mitigates cavitation damage to components within a pump. The sacrificial body is mounted in the pump so that flowing fluid passes over the sacrificial body, which causes the sacrificial body to shed electrons into the flowing fluid in the vicinity of the cavitation. The excess electrons tend to suppress hydrogen ions from releasing, which can mitigate cavitation. The sacrificial body is formed of a material having less resistance to corrosion due to the flowing fluid than the components of the pump. Needles are attached to the sacrificial body for immersion in the flowing fluid to facilitate the release of the electrons for the sacrificial body.
Abstract:
A major engine casting, such as an engine block or a cylinder head, fabricated of either magnesium or aluminum alloy, has a cast-in-place metal tube or form embedded within it. The tube or form enables circulation of liquid while substantially physically isolating the casting alloy from the circulating liquid and thereby restricting or eliminating corrosive interaction between them.
Abstract:
