摘要: A flow control device has a body having a fluid holding chamber and an inlet port and two outlet ports which are adapted to removably receive valve cartridges. Each valve cartridge has a body having an inlet, an outlet and a fluid flow passageway extending therebetween. A collapsible tubing is mounted in the fluid flow passageway of the valve cartridge body. A piston movably mounted in the fluid flow passageway in the valve cartridge's body is moved into and withdrawn from the inlet of the collapsible tubing to selectively block and unblock the inlet of the collapsible tubing. The blocking of the inlet of the collapsible tubing causes a pressure decrease in the collapsible tubing downstream of the inlet which causes fluid pressure in the fluid flow passageway surrounding the collapsible tubing to collapse a portion of the collapsible tubing around the piston to further block fluid flow through the collapsible tubing. Valve cartridges are selectively provided in the inlet and output ports of the body of the flow control device to configure the flow control device for particular applications.

摘要: A multi-position rotary valve system is useable with a disposable fluid transfer set for carrying out a sequence of steps to implement a drain and fill procedure in connection with peritoneal dialysis. A method of carrying out peritoneal dialysis includes utilizing a rotary, multi-position, valve system in conjunction with a fluid flow transfer set having a plurality of flexible fluid flow conduits. The valve system provides for systematically opening and closing the respective fluid flow conduits in a predetermined sequence for the purpose of carrying out a drain and fill procedure of the type associated with peritoneal dialysis.

摘要: This invention relates to a new control valve intended to be used to control the supply and exhaust of fluids to a dual tourniquet system. The tubes supplying and exhausting the tourniquets are of a flexible nature, and as such may be squeezed to stop the flow of fluids therethrough. The inventive valve includes cam members with camming projections formed thereon at various predetermined positions on the circumferences thereof. Simultaneous rotation of the cam members by a control knob results in sequential filling and emptying of the tourniquets in a predetermined sequence. The valve is especially useful in the practice of the Bier block procedure.

摘要: A pneumatically controlled liquid transfer system for delivering a liquid from a source to a delivery location, said liquid source being provided with a pneumatic cylinder for driving the liquid from said source, a pneumatically operated pinch valve of the make-before-break type and flexible conduit paths leading through the valve to the delivery location. The make-before-break pinch valve comprises a valve shell having two pistons movable laterally therein. The shell has a window. One piston has a yoke, each arm thereof having a passageway, one aligned with the other. A stop extends between the arms of the yoke. One of the flexible conduits is arranged through the window between the first piston and the yoke and the other flexible conduit is arranged also through the window but within the aligned passageways and between the piston and post. The second piston is spring biased to bear against the second conduit to place same in a normally closed condition. The first conduit is normally open. The first piston is acted upon by an external force such as air pressure to move same to a first condition wherein the piston pinches the first flexible conduit against the yoke, closing said conduit without overcoming the bias of the second piston to open the second conduit. Continued force exercised upon said first piston causes the same to move laterally within the housing to a second condition overcoming the spring bias of the second piston, to open the second conduit while the first conduit is retained in closed position. The second piston by virtue of its spring bias, will force the yoke back into its first position once the pressure on the first piston is relaxed. A manual override is provided operative upon the second piston to lock the same in open condition so that both conduits are open. This last mentioned position is utilized during down time of the apparatus concerned.

The valve includes drag means which frictionally engage the cam, a series of teeth or serrations carried on one of the cam and housing for cooperation with means on the other of said cam and housing to provide discrete incremental positions of the cam. 摘要: A molded, one piece, generally Y-shaped, flexible, tubular valve body formed of a fabric reinforced elastomer. The valve body is mounted in a housing which also supports a roller type pinching mechanism to open and close the legs of the Y-shaped valve body. A nose portion is formed as part of the valve body at the juncture of the legs of the valve body and moves in the direction of the leg being pinched closed. The nose portion is reinforced by a stiff arcuate shaped insert. The configuration of the valve body and its mounting on the housing permits flexing of the portion of the valve body upstream of the nose portion during opening and closing of the leg portions of the valve body. This construction permits the pinching elements to be positioned close to the juncture of the legs of the Y-shaped valve body, thus reducing the volume of the plug of material that is trapped in the branch leg upon closing thereof.
