The data is indicative of a system parameter that varies with time as a function of at least two variables related to system wash-in and wash-out behavior. To select time points a calibration map is calculated using color hue indicative of wash-out and color intensity indicative of wash-in. A color coded output map is developed. The calibration map, the color coded output map and image are novel implementations.

The present invention provides a method of registering image data for a series of images acquired over a period of time. The images may be acquired from a medical imaging device, such as an MRI scanner. The method allows image-by-image registration to a partially compressed dataset in which motion artifacts are suppressed in a series of target images generated to resemble the original dynamic data. The registration process is refined with each iteration of the process. The method uses Principal Component Analysis which allows accurate registration to be performed without the need to make any assumptions about pharmacokinetic model parameters, which not only avoids the problems of accurate model-fitting but permits the use of much larger target areas of the dataset.

The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for brain perfusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique with the removal of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pixels. This invention utilizes a CSF/brain-contrast-enhanced image, wherein the CSF/brain-contrast-enhanced image is defined as the signal difference between CSF and brain matter divided by a standard deviation of air background random noise is larger than 3, acquired from the subject's brain, and applies a segmentation technique to remove the CSF pixels. After removing the CSF pixels on parametric images, the extent of brain tissue with delayed perfusion can be better identified. By using a good region of interest enclosing the correct delayed-perfusion region, the measurement on the tissue volume and perfusion parameters would be more accurate than the area contaminated by CSF pixels.

A method and system for non-invasive patient-specific assessment of coronary artery disease is disclosed. An anatomical model of a coronary artery is generated from medical image data. A velocity of blood in the coronary artery is estimated based on a spatio-temporal representation of contrast agent propagation in the medical image data. Blood flow is simulated in the anatomical model of the coronary artery using a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation using the estimated velocity of the blood in the coronary artery as a boundary condition.

Kinetic properties, morphological properties and pattern of enhancement are determined for the identified region of interest. A score is calculated for each of the kinetic properties, morphological properties, pattern of enhancement. A cumulative score is calculated for the identified region of interest. The scores are provided to a medical practitioner to assist in diagnosing the identified region of interest.
