    摘要: The present invention provides a multi-port amplifier which adopts a pair of SP4T switches and a pair of hybrid couplers in order to flexibly adjust an amplification mode. By using the proposed invention, the limited system flexibility and reconfigurability due to fixed input and output relations are overcome regardless of a component failure in a system. Moreover, signal amplification based on effective signal distribution and combination can be consistently performed according to various port configurations by different switching modes. Thus, the overall practicality of outputs comparing to the conventional multi-port amplifier can be effectively increased within an available lifespan of the system.

    摘要: Parallel capacitors (5c and 5d) of impedance matching circuits (5) which are connected to two transistors (1), respectively, have their first ends connected to a ground through via holes (5e and 5f) that are used in common, respectively. Although a conventional circuit necessitates via holes by the number equal to the number of stages multiplied by the number of cells of the transistors (1) for an LPF type impedance matching circuit (3), the present circuit can halve the number of via holes of the LPF type impedance matching circuit (5), thereby being able to downsize the circuit.

    摘要: An unbalanced linear power amplifier (PA) is disclosed having a quadrature coupler with a 90° phase input port, a 0° phase input port, an output termination port, and a signal output port. Each of the 90° phase input port, the 0° phase input port, the output termination port, and the signal output port have a characteristic resistance (Ro). Also included is a first PA having an output coupled to a 90° phase input port of the quadrature coupler and a second PA having an output coupled to a 0° phase input port of the quadrature coupler. Biasing circuitry provides the first PA and the second PA with a similar gain. A tuning network is coupled between the output termination port and ground. The tuning network has an isolation resistance in series with an isolation inductance, wherein the isolation resistance is between about 0.02*Ro Ω and 0.8*Ro Ω.

In one implementation, a reverse-biased diode is configured between the peak branch input signal and a peak amplifier device, where the bias signal applied to the diode establishes the specified threshold level. Depending on the implementation, the bias signal may be static or dynamic, and multiple peak amplifier branches may have diodes with independently or dependently generated bias signals applied.

    摘要: Techniques and architecture are disclosed for providing an ultra-wideband, multi-channel solid-state power amplifier architecture. In some embodiments, the architecture includes a power divider which splits an input signal and delivers that split signal to a plurality of downstream channel chipsets. Each channel chipset is configured to amplify a sub-band of the original full-band input signal and to provide the resultant amplified sub-band for downstream use, such as for transmission by an antenna operatively coupled with that channel. In the aggregate, the amplified sub-bands provide coverage of the same ultra-wideband frequency range of the original input signal, in some cases. In some embodiments, the architecture provides high radio frequency (RF) power with good amplifying efficiency and ultra-wide instantaneous frequency bandwidth performance in a small-form-factor package. In some instances, control circuitry is provided to control which chipset die(s) are enabled/disabled, thus providing control over gain and power levels of the output signal(s).
