    Abstract: A method for autonomous operation of a compression apparatus for compressing a ground, the method comprising the steps: choosing a surface to be processed of the ground; preparing the compression apparatus or at least a portion of the surface to be processed so that the compression apparatus automatically processes the surface to be processed in an autonomous operation so that substantially each spot of the surface to be processed is processed at least once; moving a position-determination device along a path which represents at least a portion of an outer boundary of the surface to be processed and capturing position data by the position determination device at least in an intermittent manner while moving the position determination device along the path; generating electronic information regarding a position of the outer boundary of the surface to be processed based on captured position data of the path.

    Abstract: A road paver (10) is disclosed. The road paver (10) comprises a screed assembly (18) for laying a mat of paving material, and a tank (52) for storing a coolant. The road paver (10) further comprises a nebulizer device (58) configured to receive the coolant from the tank (52) and to nebulize the coolant into a coolant fog in an environment of the road paver (10). By cooling the environment of the road paver (10), the amount of harmful fumes emitted by hot paving material can be substantially reduced.

    Abstract: A compaction machine such as a vibration trench roller has a supplemental receiver such as an eye located generally centrally of the machine and within a common reception zone of another receiver on the machine. The eye can receive a signal that is blocked from impinging upon the machine's other receiver(s), preventing the machine from shutting down when it passes beneath an obstruction and negating the need for the operator to reposition himself or herself to reestablish communications with the machine. The supplemental receiver may be positioned so as to maximize the operating range of the controller while reducing or avoiding false signals that otherwise could occur due to signal reflection. This positioning may include providing shielding around the supplemental receiver that creates a geometric umbrella of reception capability that forms a protection zone beneath it. Signals transmitted from within the protection zone cannot impinge on the supplemental receiver.

    Abstract: A paving machine for spreading, leveling and finishing concrete having a main frame, center module, bolsters laterally movably, and a crawler track associated with respective aft and forward ends of the bolsters. A bolster swing leg for each crawler track supports an upright jacking column. A worm gear drive permits rotational movements of the crawler track and the jacking column. A hinge bracket is interposed between each swing leg and a surface of the bolsters to enable pivotal movements of the swing leg. A length-adjustable holder engages the pivot pin on the hinge bracket and pivotally engages the swing leg. The holder permits pivotal motions of the swing leg in its length-adjustable configuration and prevents substantially any motion of the swing leg in its fixed-length configuration. A feedback loop cooperates with transducers keeping the crawler tracks position. The paving machine can be reconfigured into a narrowed transport configuration.
