Abstract: A global navigation satellite sensor system (GNSS) and gyroscope control system for vehicle steering control comprising a GNSS receiver and antennas at a fixed spacing to determine a vehicle position, velocity and at least one of a heading angle, a pitch angle and a roll angle based on carrier phase position differences. The system also includes a control system configured to receive the vehicle position, heading, and at least one of roll and pitch, and configured to generate a steering command to a vehicle steering system. The system includes gyroscopes for determining system attitude change with respect to multiple axes for integrating with GNSS-derived positioning information to determine vehicle position, velocity, rate-of-turn, attitude and other operating characteristics. Relative orientations and attitudes between motive and working components can be determined using optical sensors and cameras. The system can also be used to guide multiple vehicles in relation to each other.

Abstract: An insert for lifting and leveling a precast concrete slab is provided. The insert includes a sleeve that extends through the concrete slab and has two distinct threaded portions on an inner surface of the sleeve. This configuration allows a lifting bolt to be positioned into an upper end of the sleeve to lift the concrete slab, and a different-sized leveling bolt to be positioned in the sleeve to selectively elevate or raise part of the concrete slab relative to a ground surface.

The road paver (10) further comprises a nebulizer device (58) configured to receive the coolant from the tank (52) and to nebulize the coolant into a coolant fog in an environment of the road paver (10). By cooling the environment of the road paver (10), the amount of harmful fumes emitted by hot paving material can be substantially reduced.

Abstract: A compaction machine such as a vibration trench roller has a supplemental receiver such as an eye located generally centrally of the machine and within a common reception zone of another receiver on the machine. The eye can receive a signal that is blocked from impinging upon the machine's other receiver(s), preventing the machine from shutting down when it passes beneath an obstruction and negating the need for the operator to reposition himself or herself to reestablish communications with the machine. The supplemental receiver may be positioned so as to maximize the operating range of the controller while reducing or avoiding false signals that otherwise could occur due to signal reflection. This positioning may include providing shielding around the supplemental receiver that creates a geometric umbrella of reception capability that forms a protection zone beneath it. Signals transmitted from within the protection zone cannot impinge on the supplemental receiver.

Abstract: A paving machine for spreading, leveling and finishing concrete having a main frame, center module, bolsters laterally movably, and a crawler track associated with respective aft and forward ends of the bolsters. A bolster swing leg for each crawler track supports an upright jacking column. A worm gear drive permits rotational movements of the crawler track and the jacking column. A hinge bracket is interposed between each swing leg and a surface of the bolsters to enable pivotal movements of the swing leg. A length-adjustable holder engages the pivot pin on the hinge bracket and pivotally engages the swing leg. The holder permits pivotal motions of the swing leg in its length-adjustable configuration and prevents substantially any motion of the swing leg in its fixed-length configuration. A feedback loop cooperates with transducers keeping the crawler tracks position. The paving machine can be reconfigured into a narrowed transport configuration.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of, and system for, obtaining an indication of the soil strength of soil over which a compactor roller travels. The method includes determining the depth to which a drum of the compactor roller penetrates into and depresses the soil when the compactor roller travels over a soil surface. The system includes a compactor roller, a measuring arrangement and a processor which is operatively connected to the measuring arrangement and which is configured to process data received from the measuring arrangement. The measuring arrangement includes an inertial measurement unit which is operatively connected to the compactor roller, wherein the arrangement is configured to obtain an indication of the soil strength of soil over which the compactor roller travels during operation, by determining the depth to which the drum penetrates into and depresses the soil over which it travels.

Abstract: A spray bar assembly in a material working system of a ground-engaging machine, such as a rotary mixer, includes a spray bar coupled with an elongate carrier by way of a hinge connector. The elongate carrier is supported between guides mounted upon a housing of a rotor in the material working system, to guide the spray bar assembly for linear movement relative to a frame of the ground-engaging machine. The elongate carrier has openings that register with spray ports in a housing of the system, and the spray bar is tiltable to position spray nozzles within the openings and spray ports or withdraw the spray nozzles from the openings and spray ports.
