    摘要: The invention relates to a brake actuator, especially for a rail vehicle brake, comprising a service brake unit with a brake force generator for applying and/or releasing the brake, an accumulator brake unit with an energy accumulator device for accumulating and delivering energy for applying the brake as an operative emergency brake and/or as a parking brake, and a force conversion device for converting the energy that is provided by the brake force generator and/or the energy accumulator device into a brake application movement. The invention provides that the brake actuator has an additional energy accumulator device for accumulating and delivering energy for applying and/or releasing the brake. The additional energy accumulator device and the brake force generator can be designed in such a way that the force required of the brake force generator during a braking operation in order to generate a defined brake application force level that is greater than zero but less than the maximum brake force is zero.

    摘要: A brake actuator for use on passenger transit railway vehicles, is disclosed. The actuator includes a housing containing a service piston and a parking brake piston. The service piston is connected to an inner hollow stem having a forward conical surface disposed to engage a conical surface of a collet provided on a threaded rod located within the stem. The parking brake piston has a hollow outer sleeve surrounding the hollow stem, while a coil spring is located about the outer sleeve for applying a braking force when fluid pressure is removed from a housing containing the parking brake piston. The spring expands against a locking ring located on a forward sleeve secured to an intermediate sleeve that engages the hollow stem. This causes forward movement of the outer sleeve and forward movement of the conical portion of the hollow stem into engagement with the conical portion of the conical surface of the collet. This, in turn, moves the threaded rod to engage brake applying components of a transit vehicle.

    摘要: A brake and actuator assembly is disclosed, and includes a brake having an actuating shaft operable to cause friction elements of the brake to be urged against a rotary braking member. The assembly also includes a brake actuating mechanism to which the shaft is operably connected for brake actuation. The shaft forms a splined connection, at a location spaced from the actuating mechanism, with a coupling device coupled to an output member of a power device, enabling the position of force application from the power device to the shaft to vary along the shaft to accommodate friction element wear in the brake. The line of force application between the output member and the shaft lies generally in a radial plane extending through the member, coupling device and splined connection.

The major parts except the motor and the pushrod are castings and only one size castings are required for a large range of thrust capacities. The impeller casting is machined to a diameter suitable for a desired thrust and a motor of required speed and horsepower for that thrust capacity is selected to drive the impeller.

A plurality of alignment pins are provided having abutments at each end therefor for trapping therebetween the discs of the disc stacks. Residual magnetism is minimized by the following features being provided, singly or in combination: 1) A non-magnetic material is located between an armature plate and an electromagnetic coil assembly, wherein the non-magnetic material serves as a spacer to add reluctance to the magnetic circuit and may be for example a wafer for instance composed of aluminum or stainless steel or may be a coating; and 2) A driver circuit for energizing the primary and secondary electromagnetic coils, wherein the self-induced EMF produced when current is shut-off is rapidly dissipated.

The operating fluid is pumped between the first cylinder portion and the second cylinder portion by the first and second pumps as a function of a direction of rotation of the electric motor causing the piston to move based on pressure acting on the piston and generating a force at the piston rod.

    摘要: This invention is directed to a new and novel envelope for housing a servo mechanism adapted to control a brake assembly used in conjunction with a vehicular transmission. The envelope is adapted to be demountably received within a receptacle provided in the transmission case. A pilot bore penetrates the transmission case and is located axially of the receptacle. The envelope incorporates a base portion, a cap portion and a coupler portion. A servo-apply pin extends outwardly through the coupler portion of the envelope to be reciprocatingly received within the pilot bore. A piston chamber is provided interiorly of the base and cap portions. An actuating piston is operatively received in the piston chamber, and means are included to effect communication of hydraulic pressure from a conduit within the transmission case, through the coupler portion of the envelope and the servo-apply pin into the piston chamber. Locking means are also provided selectively to secure the envelope to the transmission case.
