摘要: The invention is directed to overprinting a poly(vinyl chloride) resin substrate whose surface, or portion thereof, is colored by solvent soluble dye or by way of a mass solvent soluble dye, with a coloring agent made up of a liquid halogenated hydrocarbon solvent having 1-4 carbon atoms, pigment dispersed in said halohydrocarbon solvent, and a film former, dissolved in said halohydrocarbon solvent, consisting essentially of (a) acrylic resin or (b) a combination of acrylic resin and chlorinated polyolefin, at least 50% by weight of acrylic resin; and heat treating said overprinted substrate to adhere said film former and associated pigment.

摘要: A printing ink is vulcanized on the top surface of an operation indicating member consisting of a silicone-type elastomer and is integrated with the elastomer to form a character of a predetermined shape on the top surface. The printing ink consists essentially of a material which exhibits a vulcanizing mechanism similar to that of the silicon-type elastomer. In manufacturing the operation indicating member, the predetermined character is formed by means of the printing ink on a transfer plate disposed within a mold for molding the body of the indicating member. Next, the silicon-type elastomer is introduced into the mold and heated under elevated pressure to vulcanize and integrate the character on the transfer plate and the silicone-type elastomer, whereby the character is integrally embedded in the top surface of the operation indicating member formed in the mold.

摘要: A method and apparatus for the treatment of thin sheeting by subjecting said sheeting to a corona discharge. Two elongated electrodes are provided in a fixed spatial relationship. The first electrode is coated with a dielectric material and electrically grounded. The second electrode is machined to include a plurality of intersecting furrows which define a plurality of mesa structures, each having at least one acute angle corner. An electrical potential is applied to the second electrode and the sheeting material is then transported between the two electrodes. The mesa structures machined into the surface of the second electrode serve to enhance the amount of corona created by a given amount of electrical potential.

摘要: Distortions during printing and laminating are minimized by printing the design on a stable base, preferably release paper, and then transferring the printed design to a hot plastic web made continuously by an extruder. A stress relieved hot plastic film is then laminated to the printed web to provide a protective wear coat. To emboss in register with the printed design, the laminated product is first aligned by means of registration marks that are printed along with the design. Embossing is then made using a conventional engraved roll having raised sections which are images of the printed design. After embossing, the web is partially cooled and annealed. It is then aligned with a die cutter using the same registration marks as used for alignment during embossing. As a result, individual tiles can be cut automatically in register to the printed and embossed pattern.

摘要: A fade resistant, visually undetectable identification mark is imparted to an optically clear plastic lens or the like by providing a marking composition comprising a fluorescent dye and a liquid carrier material, and preferably including an inert sublimable solid diluent, applying the composition in a selected pattern on the surface of an article to be marked, removing the carrier material from the composition to leave a solid residue of the fluorescent dye and inert solid diluent, and permanently transferring the dye to a surface layer of the article as by heating. The mark enables a manufacturer to identify a particular article as its product by exposing it to ultraviolet radiation, yet the mark does not adversely affect the visible light optical properties of the article.
