摘要: Systems and techniques to write servo patterns on machine-readable media. In general, in one implementation, the technique includes: obtaining timing information from a spiral servo reference track on a machine-readable medium to determine head position, and generating a servo track with servo information based on the determined head position. Obtaining the timing information can involve determining a peak position of a diamond-shaped waveform and identifying occurrences of a timing-reference symbol in the spiral servo reference track. Moreover, identifying occurrences of the timing-reference symbol can involve decoding an encoded repeating pattern using multiple framings, correlating signal samples that indicate pattern transitions with valid pattern transitions as defined by the encoding, accumulating the transition pattern correlations for the multiple framings, selecting one of the multiple framings as a correct framing, and determining a waveform polarity for the signal.

摘要: Position information PosN and PosQ are compared and position information Pos1 and Pos2 in which influences of an error of a position sensitivity gain appear oppositely are calculated. Subsequently, a weight gain G1=M and a weight gain G2=(1−M) are obtained from the position information Pos1. A multiplication value obtained by multiplying the third position information Pos1 by the weight gain G1 and a multiplication value obtained by multiplying the fourth position information Pos2 by the weight gain G2 are added and synthesized, thereby calculating a decoded position.

摘要: A signal trap device and method for trapping a desired FM signal out of a frequency multiplexed signal where a plurality of FM signals are included in a frequency multiplexed form. A replay signal reproduced from a video cassette tape is supplied directly to a subtracter while being fed to a fixed delay circuit and a variable delay circuit to be delayed therein by a predetermined delay time. The delayed signal is supplied also to the subtracter, which then subtracts the delayed signal from the reproduced replay signal and outputs the result of such subtraction therefrom. The delay time of the fixed delay circuit is set to correspond to the center frequency of the carrier of the desired FM signal to be trapped. Meanwhile the delay time of the variable delay circuit is so set as to correspond to the signal obtained by demodulating the desired FM signal. Thus, the desired FM signal can be trapped properly without any harmful influence on the other FM signal.

摘要: In a demodulator for a digital FM signal, the received digital FM signal is verified at the data bit boundaries for inversion to detect errors. If an uninverted data bit boundary is detected, those sections of the digital FM signal just preceding and just following the uninverted data bit boundary are modified thereby generating two modified signals. Using the error detecting code included in the digital FM signal, the two modified signals are evaluated to determine which modification corrects the errors and the modified signal with the correct modification is selected.

摘要: A playback/recording modulating-demodulating device, having a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), a voltage-current inverter (VCI), a band-pass filter, an amplitude limiter, and a phase-locked loop. In playback mode, the playback input signal is applied to the band-pass filter, the phase-locked loop is activated, and the VCI is set to produce a reference signal which controls the band-pass filter to tune the playback input signal. The tuned playback signal is applied to the amplitude limiter which produces an amplitude-limited signal which is applied to the phase-locked loop to produce a demodulated playback output signal. In record mode, the phase-locked loop is deactivated, the VCO produces a signal having a frequency which varies according to the voltage of a record input signal, and the VCI outputs a current control signal, having an output current related to the voltage of the record input signal, which is applied to the band-pass filter to control its bandwidth. A signal having a frequency value determined by the voltage of the record input signal is output by the VCO and applied to the band-pass filter, which outputs a record output signal. Thus, in the record mode, the bandwidth of the band-pass filter is related to the frequency of the signal which it filters.
