Abstract: A pattern reconfigurable antenna includes a radiator, a first parasitic element, a second parasitic element, a ground plane, a first switch and a second switch. The radiator includes a feed portion and a radiating portion that are interconnected. The first and second parasitic elements are symmetrically located at two opposite sides of the radiating portion, and are closely adjacent to and spaced apart from the radiating portion. The ground plane is located at another side of the radiating portion, and is spaced apart from the first and second parasitic elements. Each of the first and second switches is connected between the ground plane and a respective one of the first and second parasitic elements, and is operable to establish connection between the same.

Abstract: A junction between two circuit board segments can be made using a flexible printed circuit board (PCB), permitting the two circuit board segments to be movably positioned with respect to one another, while maintaining electrical connections between the board segments through the junction. Such a design with flexible PCB junctions can allow a single, foldable board with multiple board segments to be used in place of a set of multiple circuit boards that must couple together using connectors and cables.

Abstract: A connector assembly is disclosed to reduce discontinuity impedance between golden finger connectors and components on a circuit board. The assembly includes a circuit board including a connector edge. A plurality of connectors is formed on the connector edge on a first surface of the circuit board. A ground plane is formed on part of the circuit board on a second opposite surface of the first surface. The ground plane leaves the second opposite surface under the connector edge exposed. A ground loop is formed on the second opposite surface under at least two of the plurality of connectors.

Abstract: A system and method for protecting desired data in a non-volatile dual in line memory module (NVDIMM) in a computer system. The system includes a basic input output system (BIOS). The non-volatile dual in line memory module (NVDIMM) is coupled to a memory bus. The NVDIMM includes a non-persistent memory and a persistent memory. A processor is coupled to the memory bus. When an update is applied to the basic input output system, desired data stored in the persistent memory of the NVDIMM is protected by disabling a NVDIMM backup function after a first power cycle immediately after the BIOS update. The backup function is enabled to restore the desired data to the non-persistent memory of NVDIMM from persistent memory after a second power cycle.
