A scan signal is made to flow into a gate signal line and a data signal is made to flow into a source signal line so that the data signal is applied to a source electrode and the scan signal is supplied to a gate electrode of a control TFT arranged at a portion where the both signal lines intersect when viewed from above. Thus, when the control TFT is turned ON, a drive TFT having a gate electrode connected to the drain electrode is turned ON, so that current is supplied from a power supply line via the source electrode and the drain electrode of the drive TFT to an organic EL element and the organic EL element emits light. A holding capacity is present between the control TFT and the drive TFT. Even when the scan signal becomes LOW level and the control TFT turns OFF, the gate potential of the drive TFT is held for a predetermined period of time by the holding capacity and the organic EL element continues to emit light.

The double-sided tape is provided at a frame part in the outer circumference of the effective display section of the liquid crystal panel which is closer to the effective display section than the terminal part and where the first and second glass substrates overlap. The double-sided tape is narrower than the width of the frame part where the first and second glass substrates overlap. Consequently, there can be obtained a liquid crystal display having such a structure that the liquid crystal panel is insusceptible to damage when dropped.

A liquid crystal display apparatus is constituted whereby multiple source driver circuits provided with a driver IC are connected to the periphery of a liquid crystal display panel, and power supply voltages supplied from the outside are sequentially supplied from a specific source driver circuit to an adjacent source driver circuit, and a wire resistance calculation wire is formed for the driver IC in the voltage supply direction upstream, and is approximately equivalent to the signal wires extending from the upstream driver IC to the adjacent driver IC in the voltage supply direction downstream. The driver IC calculates the wire resistance by impressing a certain calculated voltage to one end of the wire resistance calculation wire, and then detects the voltage on the other end, calculates the amounts of the drop in voltage level based on the calculated wire resistance, and outputs the power supply voltages increased by the calculated respective amounts of the voltage drop to the downstream driver IC. Accordingly, a display apparatus is provided for preventing a drop in the power supply voltages sequentially supplied, thereby inhibiting malfunctioning of the driver ICs, resulting in improved display quality.

An earth terminal (36) is provided at one edge of the cutout (33) and is brought into elastic contact with an earth contact (24a) provided on one side of the circuit board (20) when the circuit board (20) is covered with the metal cover (30). With this constitution, a stable ground line is formed in the display by a simple machining to avoid noise interference.

More specifically, it is preferable that the spacer member 40 consist of a soda glass substrate and that the liquid crystal display panel 36 for display be formed of non-alkali glass. With this constitution, it is possible to provide a stereoscopic image display device, which can be used as a large-sized stereoscopic image display device by means of the liquid crystal parallax barrier method, with good display quality and where due consideration has been given to the thermal expansion of the substrate caused by heat generated by the backlight, and the manufacturing method therefor.

The inside of the cabinet is divided into two areas. Of these two areas, one is an area in which a first circuit board, the fitting of which is compulsory, is fitted, and the other is an area in which a second circuit board, the fitting of which is optional, is fitted. On a rear lid of the liquid crystal display panel, synthetic resin fitting bases are formed, and hooks are formed thereon in the boundary between the two areas. When the second circuit board is not fitted, the hooks are used for attaching a small shield cover that covers the first circuit board, and, when the second circuit board is fitted, they are used for locking the second circuit board in place and preventing it from coming out of position.

The adjustment of the intensities of the light beams emitted from the light-emitting diodes can be simplified, and no outside circuits for adjustment are needed. The structure is excellent in assemblability. When a desired emission color is produced by mixing the emission colors, the adjustment for the mixing is easy, and a structure suited for enhancing the color rendering properties when a while light is emitted is provided.
