An apparatus for vectoring the thrust of a motor that produces thrust along a longitudinal axis by expelling combustion gases through a nozzle may include a plurality of linearly-positionable non-rotatable thrust deflectors. The thrust deflectors may be disposed at around a perimeter of the nozzle. Each thrust deflector may be independently extended to simultaneously generate both a force transverse to the longitudinal axis and a torque about the longitudinal axis.

A sensor includes an insulating support defining a front side; a membrane arranged on the front side of the support, the membrane including at least one layer including a pattern of electrically conductive material; at least one capacitance measuring unit configured for measuring a capacitance between at least a portion of the pattern of one of the at least one layer and its surrounding environment; and at least one resistance measuring unit configured for measuring a resistance between a pair of points of the pattern of one of the at least one layer. A display including the sensor and a method of using the sensor are also disclosed.

The present invention relates to a composite lens and a method for manufacturing the same, particularly to a composite lens in which a second lens component is coupled to a first lens component at part of a first surface, and intends to improve optical characteristics. A composite lens (1) has a first lens component (10) and a second lens component (20). The first lens component (10) has a first surface including a first lens surface (13), a peripheral surface (15a) surrounding the first lens surface (13) and a ring surface (17a) included in the peripheral surface (15a) and surrounding the first lens surface (13), and a second lens surface (12) on the opposite side of the first lens surface (13). The second lens component (20) is coupled to the first lens component (10) at part of the first surface surrounded by the ring surface (17a). The ring surface (17a) is positioned on a portion of the first lens component protruding from a joint portion (14) between the first lens surface (13) and the peripheral surface (15a) in a first direction from the second lens surface (20) to the first lens surface (10) along an optical axis of the first lens component (10) and is exposed out of the second lens component (20).

A fuel injector nozzle for dispensing fuel in the combustion chamber of a gas turbine engine, comprises a fluid feed conduit having at least one internal channel for the passage of fluid from an inlet end to an outlet end of the fluid feed conduit. The fluid feed conduit has a first annular segment receiving fluid from the inlet end and a second annular segment fluidly connected to receive fluid from the first annular segment at a junction having a circumferential length less than the circumferential lengths of the first and second annular segments. The second annular segment includes fluid dispensing openings to dispense fluid from the conduit, and the first and second annular segments are coaxial and axially separated for relative movement over a major portion of the second segment to accommodate differential thermal expansion.

For start of rotation of a fixing roller that is not currently being rotated, a control device causes a halogen lamp to heat an endless belt until a thermistor detects that a surface temperature of the endless belt has reached a first target temperature set at a temperature at which the endless belt is softened and is restored to its normal shape, from a deformed shape that the endless belt had while it was not rotated, to such an extent that the endless belt will never cause any rotation trouble during the rotation. This prevents the rotation trouble of the belt in a fixing apparatus in which a fixing member is heated by bringing the thus heated belt into contact with the fixing member.

The device comprises an alignment means (10) arranged in connection with a first contacting means (7) for controlling the motion of the first stamp (8) in a direction perpendicular to the pressing direction (A), and a second contacting means (11) having a second stamp (12) adapted to imprint a second pattern in the second surface (6) of the object (2), and a pressing means (9) further adapted to press the second stamp (12) into contact with the second surface (6) of the object (2) in the pressing direction (A). Hereby is obtained a device of a simple design, which has a high accuracy of the alignment of the stamps in relation to the object.

The storage medium has stored thereon a first data stream being represented by a video signal that has been encoded by a first encoding process. The data processor includes: a controller, which acquires first playlist information to manage playback of the first data stream; a stream generating section for generating a second data stream by encoding the video signal by a second encoding process, which is different from the first encoding process; and a management section for producing second playlist information based on the second data stream and the first playlist information so as to manage an order in which the second data stream is played back.

The audio client requests the server to provide the music data of a music piece selected in response to the user's operation. The music data is distributed from the content server to the audio client on the basis of a specified amount. The audio client notifies the content server of its status. The content server notifies the controller of the status of the audio client. The controller displays the status. The controller also instructs the audio client to reproduce the music piece selected in response to the user's operation through the content server.

A production method for a semiconductor device according to the present invention includes: step (A) of providing a substrate including a semiconductor layer having a principal face, the substrate having a device isolation structure (STI) formed in an isolation region 70 for partitioning the principal face into a plurality of device active regions 50, 60; step (B) of growing an epitaxial layer containing Si and Ge on selected device active regions 50 among the plurality of device active regions 50, 60 of the principal face of the semiconductor layer; and step (C) of forming a transistor in, among the plurality of device active regions 50, 60, each of the device active regions 50 on which the epitaxial layer is formed and each of the device active regions A2 on which the epitaxial layer is not formed. Step (A) includes step (a1) of forming, in the isolation region 70, a plurality of dummy regions 80 surrounded by the device isolation structure (STI), and step (B) includes step (b1) of growing a layer of the same material as that of the epitaxial layer on selected regions among the plurality of dummy regions 80.
