Abstract:
An automated lane surface measuring device comprising a controller for operating a drive mechanism for propelling the measuring apparatus and one or more sensors operated by the controller to measure topographical parameters of the bowling lane surface. In one embodiment the apparatus measures bowling lane surface elevation by measuring bowling lane height with respect to the measuring apparatus in selectable increments along the surface of the bowling lane. The measuring apparatus may also measure crosswise tilt along the width of a bowling lane in selectable increments. The measuring apparatus may also measure lengthwise tilt of the length of the lane surface in selectable increments.

A method and apparatus are provided for operating a processor. The method comprising the steps of providing a single call stack for execution of a plurality of tasks that operate on the processor, parallelly operating the plurality of tasks and allowing a context switch from a first task to a second task of the plurality of tasks, but only when operation of the first task is blocked.
Abstract:
T cells are profiled with respect to their expression of antigen receptor. The cells are arrayed on a planar or three-dimensional substrate through binding to immobilized or partially diffused MHC-antigen complexes. The cells may further be characterized with respect to their ability to respond to external stimulus in the microenvironment. External stimuli include cell-cell interactions, response to factors, and the like.

A billiard training air for promoting accuracy and consistency in contacting an object ball with a cue ball to effect and desired path for the object ball and a resultant path and position for the cue ball includes an alignment body supported above the object ball, an object ball laser projecting a forward beams that is positioned on the desired path along a longitudinal axis, a impact indicating laser downwardly projecting a contact line along the object ball for indicating a contact point for the cue ball, a light unit for projecting a ghost ball image on the longitudinal axis at the contact point for indicating the impact position for the cue ball, and a pair of transverse lasers for projecting lateral beam to indicate and reference post impact cue ball position.
Abstract:
When a mobile communication unit (e.g. a cellular telephone) is powered up, the unit must lock on to a local base station, or "acquire" a base station signal, to enable the user to send and receive calls. To lock on a local base station, the mobile unit must determine the delay at which the base station is sending the pseudo random (PN) code. This process is called the "acquisition." The current art of acquiring a base station involves collecting a set of samples at a particular code phase, or delay, testing the collected sample, and repeating these steps using another code phase until the correct code phase is found. The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for collecting a set of samples at a particular code phase, and simultaneously testing the collected sample and collecting the next set of samples for another code phase. Using multiple banks, the system resources such as the dwell accumulators and the DSP are used concurrently to reduce the time required to test the phase delays of the short code to lock on to a base station.
Abstract:
A locking ring includes two semi-annular ring portions with a U-shaped cross section. The locking ring serves to retain an electric meter in its meter socket in a manner which is well known. Both ends of each ring portion terminate in housings, each housing having an axial lock receiving aperture therethrough. When the ring halves are brought together to form a complete circle, the clockwise-most and counter-clockwise-most housings slide over each other until their lock receiving apertures are in axial alignment. A barrel lock can then be inserted into each of the two sets of aligned apertures, to secure the locking ring against opening. When a barrel lock is removed from either set of apertures, the ring can be opened at that location and removed from the meter.
Abstract:
A door closure for an electric meter box comprises a barrel lock, a lock receiver, a tie rod, a locking nut, and a base plate. The lock includes a shank portion, a head portion, and a flange. The head portion resides in a hole in the meter box door, and the flange captures the outside surface of the door. The lock shank is received by a hole in one end of the lock receiver. The hole has an internal groove for receiving the locking balls in the lock shank. The other end of the lock receiver receives the threaded end of a tie rod. The other end of the tie rod is welded to a base plate, which is screwed into the back of the meter box. The position of the lock receiver can be adjusted to match the depth of the meter box by screwing the receiver up or down on the tie rod. The position of the receiver is then fixed by a lock nut immediately behind the lock receiver. The lock receiver can also be aligned with the door hole by flexing the tie rod.
Abstract:
A system and method for jointly determining initial tap coefficients for a maximum likelihood sequence estimating equalizer and a timing error of an incoming signal, in one embodiment, receives the incoming signal into a receiver, and locates a known portion within a time frame of the incoming signal. The known portion is compared with a stored representation of the known portion, and with a stored representation of a derivative of the known portion. The initial tap coefficients and timing error of the incoming signal are jointly determined based on the comparing of the known portion with the stored representations, and a subsequent known portion is located within a subsequent time frame of the incoming signal based on the timing error. The initial tap coefficients are passed to a maximum likelihood sequence estimating equalizer.
