Abstract:
A cooling system for a battery in a vehicle does not use air from the vehicle passenger compartment, but rather, takes in ambient air from outside the vehicle. When the temperature of the ambient air outside the vehicle is low enough, the air is moved through a duct system by a pair of fans and blown across a battery assembly. When the temperature of the ambient air outside the vehicle is too warm to cool the battery directly, it is first passed through an evaporator coil where it exchanges heat with a refrigerant, prior to being blown across the battery assembly. The cooling air may be recirculated across the battery assembly, or exhausted from the vehicle through an air extractor.
Abstract:
A process for producing a poly-olefin is disclosed, which comprises contacting at least one 1-olefin under polymerisation conditions with a polymerisation catalyst or catalyst system comprising (1) a compound having the Formula (I) wherein M is Fe[II], Fe[III], Co[I], Co[II], Co[III], Mn[I], Mn[II], Mn[III], Mn[IV], Ru[II], Ru[III], Ru[IV], V[II], V[III], V[IV], or V[V], Ti[II], Ti[III] or Ti[IV]; X represents an atom or group covalently or ionically bonded to the transition metal M; T is the oxidation state of the transition metal M and b is the valency of the atom or group X; R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7 are independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, hydrocarbyl, substituted hydrocarbyl, heterohydrocarbyl or substituted heterohydrocarbyl; and when any two or more of R1-R7 are hydrocarbyl, substited hydrocarbyl, heterohydrocarbyl or substituted heterohydrocarbyl, said two or more can be linked to form one or more cyclic substituents; and optionally (2) an activating quantity of an activator compound comprising a Lewis acid capable of activating the catalyst for olefin polymerisation; and then subjecting the resulting polyolefin to crosslinking conditions. The polymer produced can be formed into shaped articles or films with desirable physical properties
Abstract:
A low-profile, tri-filar, helix antenna having circular polarization (CP) includes a single feed, in the absence of an internal feed network. The antenna includes three metal, bent, quarter-wave monopoles that are physically positioned at 0, 120, and 240 degrees, respectively, on a top flat surface of the antenna. One of the monopoles is directly-fed, and the other two monopoles are parasitically coupled to the directly-fed monopole. Metal perturbations on one or both of the two parasitic monopoles control their coupling-phase to the directly-fed monopole. One of the parasitic monopoles couples at positive 120 degrees to the directly-fed monopole, and the other parasitic monopole couples at negative 120 degrees to the directly-fed monopole. Various perturbation options generate this CP phasing. One of the parasitic monopoles can have a capacitive shunt, and the other parasitic monopole can have a series inductance, or only one parasitic monopole can include a perturbation, either capacitive or inductive, depending on the sense of the CP that is desired. The three monopoles are supported by a dielectric substrate, or they are free-standing. A ground plane is provided directly under the three monopoles.
Abstract:
Known telecommunication systems like a DECT-system comprising a base-station and a handset or like a Digital Home Network system comprising a controller and several devices or a car radio system comprising a car radio and a front are based upon an authorisation process for introducing a new device or for coupling an already introduced but decoupled old device to said telecommunication system. Such authorisation process, which often is user-unfriendly, can be partially or even completely avoided by either using the result of an old identification process or by using a new identification process for identifying a user, which can be done in a much more user-friendly way.
Abstract:
A towing apparatus includes a generally tubular shaped elongated housing for enclosing an elastic cord secured to points on a towing cord. The towing cord is disposed, at least in part, within the elongated housing and is capable of extending, at least in part, through the opposing open ends. The elastic-type cord is secured at opposite ends thereof to spaced apart terminating points of the towing cord such that the length between the spaced apart points is greater than the length of the elastic cord. The elastic cord in the relaxed condition serves to bunch the towing cord segment between the space apart point within the elongated housing without entanglement. Connectors may be secured to each of the opposite ends of the towing cord for attachment of the towing apparatus to, respectively, a towing vessel and to a watercraft.
Abstract:
The twist axle assembly includes a pair of spaced apart trailing arms and a twist beam of which extends in a first direction between the trailing arms. The twist beam includes a pair of end portions and a middle portion. The twist beam further has a pair of side walls and at least one additional wall that extends between the side walls. The side walls in the middle portion are generally parallel with the side walls of the end portions. The twist beam is generally hour-glass shaped with the middle portion having a first width and the end portions have a greater second width. The twist beam also tapers from the first width of the middle portion to the second widths of the end portions for gradually increasing a torsional stiffness from the middle portion to the end portions.
Abstract:
The sanitizing device for tool and cart handles is designed to rest on a base mount attached to the tool handle. When the user wants to use the sanitizing device they move the device from its rest position, spray sanitizing solution onto the desired surface area of the tool or cart handle, then slide the device along the handle to sanitize and/or disinfect it. The device includes a sponge which aids in the thorough sanitization of the desired surface area. In addition to sanitizing tool or cart handle, the device allows the user to direct the sanitizing spray into their hands to eliminate or minimize the transfer or spread of communicable pathogens. The fluid reservoir may be refillable or, alternatively, the fluid reservoir may be disposable and replaceable when the fluid is depleted.
Abstract:
A battery module assembly and method of assembling a battery. The battery module assembly includes a plurality of modules in which a plurality of battery cells are preassembled. The modules are compressed by end plates that are held together under compression by a plurality of linking members. The end plates may include a protrusion that applies pressure to the central portion of the battery cells within the modules. The central portion of the end plates may be partially spherical, partially cylindrical or a flat surface.
Abstract:
An array of rotor blades is provided. The array includes a rotor disk defining a plurality of slots. A first rotor blade that includes a first platform between a first airfoil and a first shank portion is coupled with a first slot of the rotor disk via the first shank portion. The first rotor blade further includes a pair of oppositely disposed flanges positioned between the first platform and the first shank portion and extending beyond a longitudinal side edge defined by the first platform. A second rotor blade, that includes a second platform defining a pair of oppositely disposed overhang lips and positioned between a second airfoil and a second shank portion, is coupled with a second slot of the rotor disk via the second shank portion. The second rotor blade is positioned adjacent to the first rotor blade such that one of the overhang lips of the second platform is positioned over one of the flanges of the first rotor blade. Methods are also generally provided for installing rotor blades onto a rotor disk.
