摘要: A media transport system for controlling the position and velocity of media in a document production apparatus marking engine having a media positioning system driven by a motor, includes a motion control loop to control the motor; a sensor adapted to detect the position of the media and to create a trigonometric signal characteristic of the position of the media, the trigonometric signal comprising frequency and phase components; a resolver electronics subsystem adapted to trigonometrically process the trigonometric signal to create a resolved signal; and means for comparing the resolved signal to a reference clock signal of predetermined frequency and phase to provide an error signal used to control the motor that drives the media positioning system. The trigonometric signal may include a sine portion and a cosine portion. The sine portion of the trigonometric signal is sin(.omega..sub.e *t+.phi..sub.e) and the cosine portion of the trigonometric signal is cos(.omega..sub.e *t+.phi..sub.e); where .omega..sub.e is the trigonometric signal frequency component, .phi..sub.e is the trigonometric signal phase component, and t is the time. The resolver electronics subsystem may include a first multiplier adapted to output the product of the sine portion of the trigonometric signal and a reference cosine command cos(.omega..sub.r *t+.phi..sub.r); a second multiplier adapted to output the product of cosine portion of the trigonometric signal and a reference sine command sin(.omega..sub.r *t+.phi..sub.r), where .omega..sub.r is the frequency of the reference command and .phi..sub.r is the phase of the reference command; and means to add the outputs of the first and second multipliers.

摘要: A method for operating a thermal ink jet printer including a printhead having ink firing heater resistors responsive to pulses provided to the printhead. A sequence of pulse bursts of respective increasing or decreasing pulse energies that span a predetermined pulse energy range is applied to the printhead, each pulse burst comprised of a plurality of pulses having a pulse energy that is associated with such pulse burst and is constant for all pulses in such burst, and each burst having a sufficient number of pulses to allow the printhead to achieve a steady state operating temperature at the pulse energy of the pulse burst. A steady state operating temperature sample is determined for each of the sequence of pulses bursts of different pulse energies to produce a set of temperature samples respectively associated with the increasing pulse energies, and a turn on pulse energy is determined from the temperature samples. The thermal ink jet printhead is then operated with a pulse energy that is greater than the turn on pulse energy and in a range that provides a desired print quality while avoiding premature failure of the heater resistors.

摘要: An improved apparatus and method for uniformly cooking thick layers of food product in a saturated steam environment. A foraminous conveyor belt transports a thick layer of food product into a walled cooking chamber open at its ends. The walls trap pure saturated steam to the exclusion of air in the upper region of the chamber. A pressurized source of cooking energy supplies steam through a network of steam pipes situated just below the level of the belt along its carryway through the upper region of the cooking chamber. The pipes, which span the width of the conveyor belt, include small, restricted openings uniformly distributed along the pipes. The openings form steam outlets. The pipes are oriented with the steam outlets facing the conveyor belt. Saturated steam is emitted through the outlets directed through the foraminous conveyor belt at a velocity great enough to penetrate the thick product layer to cook even the innermost product within the thick layer, thereby improving the uniformity of the cook. The thick product layer slows the steam as it penetrates the layer to prevent the formation of turbulent flow paths that could draw unwanted air into the 212.degree. F. saturated steam cooking region. An S-shaped back-flip in the conveying path repositions the product on the belt to further improve cooking uniformity.

摘要: A test socket for testing of semiconductor devices. The socket includes a plurality of electrical contacts mounted within a housing, a cover, and a pressure applicator which serve to prolong test life of the contacts. The pressure applicator is mounted to the cover by use of an elastomeric element which compliantly holds the applicator to the cover. The socket construction, thereby, serves to prevent damage to leads of an integrated circuit device held by the socket.

摘要: Apparatus for electrically interconnecting a lead of an integrated circuit device to a terminal spaced at a distance from the lead, such as on a printed circuit board. The apparatus is also useful for interconnecting two printed circuit boards. The apparatus includes a housing which has at least two flanges extending therefrom. The flanges are spaced a distance with an elastomeric element captured thereby and extending therebetween. A conductive contact is mounted on the elastomeric element and thus freely suspended for contact with terminals to be interconnected. A multiplicity of such contacts may be arranged in a suitable pattern for interconnecting specified integrated circuit devices with a printed circuit board. The contact shape can be generally disk-like to provide maximum wiping action and to facilitate air-tight contact between the terminal and interconnect apparatus.

摘要: A continuous-tone thermal printer includes a transport mechanism for advancing a print medium past a thermal print head while continuous-tone image information is being printed, line-by-line, on the medium. To increase the rate at which thermal prints are produced, the printer includes asynchronous motor-control apparatus for selectively accelerating the movement of the print medium relative to the print head to quickly locate the print head at the start of a new image line immediately following the printing of that pixel(s) having the highest image density in the preceding image line. Preferably, such motor-control apparatus includes a digital signal processor which determines the maximum pixel density on each line. Upon printing such maximum pixel density, the digital signal processor causes a motor controller to temporarily increase the print medium velocity past the thermal print head to the start of the next image line.

摘要: A sling assembly for carrying shoulder-fired weapons, particularly military rifles, in an upright horizontal ready position. A strap portion of the sling assembly extends rearwardly from a sling swivel on the bottom of the butt stock and then extends upwardly along the butt plate on the rear side of the butt stock, where it is retained detachably by a sleeve slidably disposed on the strap. The sleeve includes a portion of a detachable connector to hold the sleeve and strap against the butt plate, the other mating portion of the fastener being located on the butt end of the stock. The sleeve extends high enough relative to the butt stock so that raising the rifle to the user's shoulder separates the parts of the detachable connector, allowing the sleeve and strap portions of the sling assembly to fall clear of the butt end of the stock while the sling remains connected to the weapon by the sling swivel.

摘要: A cup-like protective carrying device for holding a pistol reloader of the type which carries a plurality of pistol cartridges arranged to be simultaneously inserted into the several chambers of a revolver cylinder has a generally cylindrical protective shell wall and a closed bottom from which a pair of elongate arms extend upwardly, passing between adjacent ones of the cartridges. A catch on each of the arms includes camming surfaces for engaging a portion of the revolver reloader, resiliently deflecting the arms to permit the catches to ride over the portion of the reloader and thereafter elastically engage the reloader to hold it within the carrier. Provision is made for riveting the carrier to a leather slide loop or a holster belt to carry a charged revolver reloader ready for immediate use.
