Abstract:
An electrically powered tool comprises a unitary chassis and a novel strain relief system incorporating a molded housing having a bore therein for securing power wiring to said chassis and preventing stress thereto.
Abstract:
An optical assembly is disclosed. The optical assembly includes a laser having a front facet and a rear facet a thin film filter (TFF) to receive a first optical signal from the front facet of the laser and to reflect a component of the first optical signal back to the laser a back facet monitor (BFM) to receive a second optical signal and the reflected component from the rear facet of the laser and a feedback circuit to monitor the quantity of reflected component.
Abstract:
A seating system is provided including a beam for supporting seats, wherein the seats are individually mounted to the beam at any selected longitudinal position along the beam. The system facilitates seat positioning and repositioning in a manner that optimizes seating adaptability and ease of installation. The beam preferably includes integral first and second track portions. The first track portion includes a channel that receives bracket-mounted connectors by which the beam is fixed relative to the ground. Each of the seats has at least one seat support with a clamp portion that secures to the second track portion of the beam, free from the channel to avoid interfering with the connectors, regardless of the point at which the support is clamped to the beam. The second track portion is preferably shaped to include a rear overhang and front overhang defining oppositely directed undercut surfaces on which the seat support is securely mounted.
Abstract:
In a system that demodulates a frequency modulated signal using a quadrature detector circuit, an apparatus that tunes the output signal to compensate for any offset in the signal includes an offset adjustment circuit and a control circuit. The offset adjustment circuit is operably coupled to the control circuit which may consist of a DAC and a digital logic such as a computer CPU. The control circuit determines a correction signal in response to a sequence of sampled of the system output, and supplies the correction signal to the offset adjustment circuit. The offset adjustment circuit provides an offset correction signal in response to the correction signal, and combines the offset correction signal with the output of the quadrature detector to provide an offset adjusted signal at an output node.
Abstract:
A face gear manufacturing operation wherein a set of oversized teeth are formed on a face gear or tapered pinion gear by a gear cutting operation. The oversized teeth are of a predetermined profile. The gear bearing the oversize teeth is then subjected to metallurgical surface hardening operation. At the conclusion of the heat treatment surface hardening operation, the face gear or pinion gear is subjected to a continuous grinding operation wherein a grinding wheel having a worm profile of a predetermined shape is rotated to grind the previously cut teeth to produce a finished tooth profile. The operation is CNC controlled. The gear producing apparatus requires only a slight modification to produce a face gear or a tapered pinion gear by the simple interchange of work heads.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for installing pipes. The apparatus is a clamp for hanging or supporting pipe. The clamp comprises a base and a seat for receiving a pipe. The seat comprises at least two load bearing members adapted to receive the pipe. The clamp further comprises at least two side support members extending upward from the base at an oblique angle with respect to the base. The two support members each comprise an upwardly extending arm for receiving the pipe and wherein each upwardly extending arm forms an aperture for receiving a fastener to secure the pipe within the clamp. The clamp preferably comprises an integral, one-piece unit. Methods of making a pipe clamp and installing a pipe also are disclosed.
Abstract:
A rotatable building structure (10) contains a vertical central core (14) for supporting suspended floor units (12) surrounding the core. An annular platform (22) extends from the core at corresponding floor units for providing accessibility to and from the central core. The floor units contain a drive mechanism (38, 40, 42) for rotational displacement. The wind load on the exterior side of each floor, and/or horizontal wind turbines that turn around the core but is a separate part of the floor itself, solar panels situated as a roof cover on top of each floor and a wind tool (46) deployable from the floor unit provides alternative wind power assist for rotating the floor units.
Abstract:
We describe an electronic document reading device having a front, display surface and a device rear surface, the device including a connector mounted on an edge of the device. The device includes a back panel having an exterior surface to provide the rear surface and an interior surface, wherein the back panel is substantially transparent and the interior surface of the back panel is substantially opaque, and wherein the back panel has a cut-out for the connector such that a rear surface of the connector is substantially flush with the device rear surface provided by the exterior of the transparent back panel, such that the opaque interior surface of the transparent back panel gives the impression of a device thinner than a physical thickness of the device defined by the substantially flush connector rear surface and the device rear surface.
Abstract:
An installation for the intermediate holding and storage of sewage and effluent, said installation comprising a sealable housing 9 having an inlet 1 for receiving said effluent and an outlet for discharging said effluent, a holding reservoir 2 pivotally mounted and positioned within said housing to receive and temporarily store a quantity of said effluent, wherein said holding reservoir is an asymmetrically shaped open bucket adapted to automatically move about said pivot from a first position adapted for receiving and storing said effluent to a second invented position where stored effluent is emptied into said housing under the influence of gravity once the accumulated effluent reaches a sufficient mass wherein said housing includes an effluent race 11 incorporated into the floor of said housing to divert said effluent directly to said outlet.
