摘要: A soft tissue anchor involving a footing stud that includes a drill end followed by self tapping threads, the footing stud arranged for turning and tapping into a bone mass. The footing stud for endosteal seating at a ligament attachment site on that bone mass. A center longitudinal hole is arranged in that footing stud rear end that receives and locks to a pointed cone base end edge of a tack that is fitted therein. The tack includes a tack shaft whereto is axially attached, on one end, the pointed cone base with a broad head secured to the other shaft end. The tack broad head is disk shaped and includes spikes that project at spaced radial intervals from the undersurface thereof, parallel to the shaft, and includes a center axial threaded post that extends outwardly from a top surface thereof. Which threaded post is for turning into a threaded end of a tack driver. The tack pointed cone is for passing through a ligament, or the like, and locking in the footing stud, in which configuration the spikes that extend from the undersurface of the broad head spikes have penetrated the ligament and the ligament is held and compressed tightly against the bone surface.

摘要: The present invention is in a drill guide (20) that is for use with and for mounting to a "K" wire (13) that has been fitted through an anterior or posterior cruciate ligament tunnel. The drill guide (20) includes identical parallel rails (21) that are mounted to a stationary bracket (22), essentially at right angles, and are journaled to a traveling bracket (25), the traveling bracket further including set screws (28) to releasably lock it to the rails. The stationary and traveling brackets (22) and (25), respectively, are each isosceles triangular in shape, and each mounts a guide cylinder (23) and (26), respectively, at right angles through their apexes such that longitudinal openings through which guide cylinders are aligned to receive the "K" wire fitted therethrough. A trolley (30) is arranged for travel on rails (21) between the stationary and traveling brackets (22) and (25), and can be releasably locked in place. The trolley mounts a replaceable drill sleeve (36) with a barrel (40) that includes a longitudinal hole (41) formed therethrough wherethrough a drill (44) is turned.

摘要: Knee arthroplasty instrument systems directly reference and align with the anterior distal femoral cortex and the mechanical axis of the leg. The anterior femoral resection is aligned in the same plane as the anterior distal femoral cortex. The center of the femoral head, the medial/lateral center of the distal femur, the medial/lateral center of the proximal tibia, and the second toe, medial/lateral center of the ankle, or anterior tibial spine are all aligned to the mechanical axis of the leg. Methods of using a cut guide assembly and referencing a provisional proximal tibial resection at the base of the tibial eminence are disclosed.

摘要: Knee arthroplasty instrument systems directly reference and align with the anterior distal with the anterior distal femoral cortex, the mechanical axis of the leg, and Whiteside's line. The anterior femoral resection is aligned in the same plane as the anterior distal femoral cortex. The center of the femoral head, the medial/lateral center of the distal femur, the medial/lateral center of the proximal tibia, and the second toe, medial/lateral center of the ankle, or anterior tibial spine are all aligned to the mechanical axis of the leg while the leg is in full extension and the knee joint is distracted. Whiteside's line is referenced while the distal femur is intact, before any distal femoral resection, and the anterior and posterior femoral resections and chamfer cuts are aligned to this reference using a jig. Methods of using the instrument systems are disclosed.

摘要: A system includes an implant with an articulation surface, a fixation member which may be anchored in a bone, and a base portion which may receive the fixation member. The base member may comprise a bone-engaging portion and an attachment portion. The base member may receive the fixation member such that a threaded portion of the fixation member and the bone-engaging portion of the base member may be seated in the bone. The implant may be attached to the attachment portion of the base member. The base member may be configured in a variety of shapes and may include fins, teeth, pegs or other anti-rotation features, and may include a bone ingrowth surface. The attachment portion may be tapered and attachable to the implant through a taper-lock.

摘要: A bone anchor and method for its use in an arthroscopic and open soft tissue surgical procedure to mount a ligament graft, or the like, under tension and at variable lengths in a tunnel section that is formed through a bone or bones. The bone anchor embodiments of the invention each have a body for mounting into and/or adjacent a bone cortex surface in a tunnel section to allow at least one suture or shaft that has been fitted through the bone anchor, and is attached to the ligament graft to be pulled through the bone anchor. The suture or shaft to pass across a movable clamp fitted within the body to move so as to allow the suture or shaft to be pulled freely through the bone anchor distal, but will clamp against the suture or shaft, prohibiting its being pulled back therethrough. A pulling of the suture or shaft through the seated bone anchor applies a tension and sets a required length to a graft whose opposite end is secured, with the clamp locking against a section of that suture or shaft, to maintain that applied tension. Whereafter, the excess suture or shaft can be cut away, permanently mounting the graft.
