    摘要: The present invention relates to a plasma display device apt to increase luminance of a phosphor layer and prevent degradation of a discharge characteristic, and to a phosphor used for the device. This plasma display device has a green phosphor having a crystal structure of Zn2SiO4:Mn, and a monovalent oxide is substituted for part of the green phosphor. The monovalent oxide is one or more of lithium oxide (Li2O), sodium oxide (Na2O), potassium oxide (K2O), cesium oxide (Cs2O), rubidium oxide (Rb2O), copper oxide (Cu2O), and silver oxide (Ag2O). This structure allows reduction of oxygen defects occurring in the green phosphor, suppression of the luminance decrease of the green phosphor, and improvement of a discharge characteristic.

    摘要: A method is provided to steadily produce a gas discharge panel, such as a PDP, in which a panel and the top of the barrier ribs are in intimate contact in entirety. First a surrounding unit for the gas discharge panel is formed, then a process for sealing the surrounding unit with a sealing material inserted between two panels at the rim is performed while pressure is adjusted so that pressure inside the surrounding unit is lower than pressure outside. With this construction, the panels constituting the surrounding unit are bonded together while they are pressurized from outside. As a result, a panel and the top of the barrier ribs on the other panel are bonded together while they are in intimate contact in entirety. To fully acquire these effects, it is preferable that the adjustment of pressure starts before the sealing material hardens. During, before, or after the sealing step, an energy such as laser beams or ultrasonic waves may be radiated onto the top of the barrier ribs to bond a panel and the top of the barrier ribs in entirety almost without a gap between them.

    摘要: A plasma-display panel of high luminosity and efficiency which does not require auxiliary cells so that the panel structure has high-density cells, enabling longer emission time and smaller reactive power. A driving method of such a PDP comprising a first insulator substrate and a second insulator substrate which is arranged at a given distance above the first insulator substance; the first insulator substrate having a first line electrode group and a second line electrode group which are parallel, and the second insulator substrate having a third line electrode group which are parallel to the first and the second line electrode groups so that the third line electrode group and the first and the second electrode groups appear to form a two-dimensional lattice when viewed from above; thereby forming a discharge space between the first and the second insulator substrates; the first and the third line electrode groups having parts exposed to the discharge space, while the second line electrode group being covered by dielectric layer in the discharge space. The method comprises: writing image information by addressing discharge between the line electrode groups which appear to form a two-dimensional lattice when viewed from above and accumulating charges on the dielectric layer; and floating the charges in the discharge space by applying an auxiliary pulse voltage below discharge voltage to the second electrode group, and generating direct current discharge by applying a sustain pulse voltage in-between the first and the third line electrode groups.
