摘要: A radio receiver is suitable for use in an OFDM wireless communications system, in which it is necessary to identify a timing point at a start of a frame. In order to ensure optimum performance of the receiver in multipath environments, it should be synchronised with the first received multipath component, although one or more of the delayed multipath components may be stronger than the first component. A method of determining the time position of the first received multipath component, determines a correlator function from the received signal, and determines the required timing point from a falling edge in a derivative of the correlator function.

摘要: An overflow chamber (2) is provided for use in a combined sewer overflow. An inlet (12) and an outlet (14) open into the chamber (2) below a screen (20), and an overflow outlet (15) opens into the chamber above the screen. Baffles (26) are provided underneath the screen (20) across the general flow of storm water. In storm conditions, the storm water in the chamber (2) will reach the level of the screen (20), which traps aesthetically offensive material and gross solids, leaving the water to flow through the screen (20) to the overflow outlet (15). The baffles (26) circulate the storm water, and this dislodges material accumulated on the underside of the screen (20) and so helps to prevent blinding of the screen (20) in storm conditions.

摘要: The process disclosed herein involves the high temperature processing of phosphate ore in a solid state using a ported rotary kiln. Prior to insertion into the kiln, the ore is pulverized and beneficiated to remove excessive quantities of unwanted materials such as clay, silica, iron, sodium, potassium, and alumina. The calcium oxide to silica ratio of the beneficiated is then adjusted to within a specific acceptable range, a carbon source containing sulfur such as petroleum coke is added and the resulting feed material is pelletized using a binding agent if necessary. The pelletized feed material is then dried, preheated, and fed into a ported rotary kiln. At the elevated temperature maintained in the reducing kiln, tricalcium phosphate undergoes a reduction reaction to produce phosphorus gas and carbon monoxide. Atmospheric air is injected into the rotating kiln chamber, which facilitates the oxidation of phosphorus gas to phosphorus pentoxide and the oxidation of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide. The reducing kiln exhaust gas stream containing the phosphorus pentoxide and carbon dioxide gas components is processed in an absorption column in which the phosphorus pentoxide is hydrolyzed by water to phosphoric acid. The phosphoric acid is then recovered and concentrated to a commercial grade strength. The slag residue serves as a raw material for cement manufacture.

The panel is formed of a sheet 27 of transparent or semi-transparent plastics, one side of which bears a sign, notice or graphic symbol 32. The sign 32 has sections of different opacity. A plurality of uniformly sized and uniformly spaced dots 34 are overprinted over the sign 32 and the panel 26 to form a half-tone of a color matching, complimenting or contrasting with that of the sign 32. The dots 34 are luminous such that light impinging thereon is reflected and transmitted throughout the panel 26 ensuring an even light distribution.

摘要: An apparatus for tensioning the metal in the saw blade, and at the same time deform the saw blade allowing the saw to cut a narrow kerf. The apparatus dishes or deforms the saw blade to remove kinks therein, it includes a support for the saw blade which permits movement in the face plane, a fist pair of rolls mounted for rotation on a single axle with a spacer therebetween, one roll having a larger diameter than the other roll, positioned to engage one face of the saw blade, a second pair of rolls, substantially the same as the fist pair of rolls, mounted for rotation on a single axle substantially parallel to the axle for the first pair of rolls, positioned to engage on the opposite face of the saw blade divertly opposite the first pair of rolls. Provision is made to move at least one of the axles axially relative to the saw blade, and to move at least one of the pairs of rolls perpendicular to the face of the saw blade.
