摘要: An implant for the repair of bone and cartilage that includes a cell conductive zone that contains biopolymeric fibers and an osteoconductive zone that contains biopolymeric fibers and calcium-containing silicate based glass. The biopolymeric fibers from one zone overlap with the fibers in the other zone forming a stable physical and mechanical integration of the two zones, thus conferring in vivo stability to the implant.

摘要: The present invention relates to a three-dimensional multiphasic synthetic tissue scaffold comprising first, second and third compartments, wherein: each said compartment comprises distinct microstructural, and/or chemical, and/or mechanical properties, and is connected with at least one other compartment of the scaffold via a continuous interface; the tissue scaffold is porous; and the external morphology of the tissue scaffold mimics that of a mammalian joint or a component thereof. The invention further relates to a method for producing the three dimensional multiphasic synthetic tissue scaffold using a polymeric material, the method comprising using a three-dimensional (3D) bioprinter to print the tissue scaffold by continuously deposit the polymeric material onto a platform until the tissue scaffold is produced in its entirety.

摘要: A bone void filler preparation system that includes a processing vessel, a processing cover, a bone void filler preparation container and tubing. The processing vessel has a recess formed therein. The processing vessel is adapted to receive bone marrow aspirate. The processing cover includes an outer wall, a central wall member and a connection port. The outer wall has an upper edge and a lower edge. The central wall member extends inwardly from the outer wall intermediate the upper and lower edges of the processing cover. The central wall member has an aperture formed therein. The central wall member has a downwardly directed portion that defines an air-retaining region. The air-retaining region is closer to the outer wall upper edge than the aperture. The connection port is operably connected to the aperture. The processing cover is movable in the processing cover recess. The bone void filler preparation container has an inlet portion and an outlet port. The bone void filler preparation container is adapted to receive a bone void filler matrix therein. The tubing fluidly connects the processing cover connection port and the bone void filler preparation container inlet port.

摘要: A bone repair scaffold having two moduli that match those of the cancellous and cortical bone in a patient receiving a bone graft/implant. The bone repair scaffold possesses increased mechanical properties to sustain physiological loading and biologically active capability to facilitate bone fusion. The bone repair scaffold may be 3D-printed, which allows for a variety of scaffold designs and configurations. Pore size, interconnected porosity, shape, and modulus of the bone repair scaffold may be modified for different bone graft applications, whether it is used as filler for bone cancer resections or trauma, or as a fusion device in cases of surgery. Depending on the defect location of the bone shaft, the relative porosity of the scaffold may be modified to account for changes in cortical bone thickness. A method for treating a bone defect using the bone repair scaffold is also disclosed.

摘要: A bioreactor for preferably three-dimensional cell culturing comprises a scaffold chamber, a first tube, a second tube and a first valve with a scaffold adapter, a tube adapter and a medium adapter. The first valve has a housing with a longitudinal female portion ending in an opening and a longitudinal actuator being arranged through the opening of the female portion of the housing such that the actuator is arranged partially inside the housing and partially outside the housing, wherein the actuator of the first valve is axially moveable relative to the housing of the first valve between a first position in which the first valve is in the operation position and a second position in which the first valve is in the medium change position. By providing the actuators in the first valve which is applied by axial movements, operation of the bioreactor can be comparably simple and safe.
