    摘要: Turbochargers comprise a compressor housing having an air inlet passage for receiving inlet airflow, an air outlet passage for passing pressurized air to an engine combustion system, and a compressor impeller rotatably disposed within the housing for receiving air from the air inlet passage, pressurizing the inlet air, and passing the pressurized air to the air outlet passage. An air flow conditioner is placed into air flow communication with the compressor housing air inlet passage, and can be disposed within an air inlet section of the compressor itself, or can be placed within a vehicle air ducting positioned upstream from the turbocharger. The air flow conditioner comprises a body that is specially designed having a plurality of air passages disposed therethrough to cause a desired flow conditioning effect on air passing through it and to the compressor to offset the onset of compressor surge during engine operation, thereby shifting the compressor operating efficiency curve to the left to broaden the operating efficiency window for the turbocharger compressor.

    摘要: A mobile device such as a wireless communication device includes a component to automatically switch between profiles defining user notification options for notifying of device events such as new data or voice communications, calendar or alarm events. Switching is automated upon the happening of a switching condition defined in response to time or location information or both. For example, a user may enable a profile which disables event notification for a particular duration or while the user is at a particular location. That profile may be expired and automatically switched to another profile to re-enable notification upon the expiry of the duration or change to the location.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for state management in a co-verification system is described. The invention allows acceleration of co-simulation without loss of information that can occur from independent simulation of software and hardware components of a design. For example, counters included in a hardware component that are influenced by software components are simulated and updated by the software simulator when simulation of hardware and software is not synchronized. When the counter or other hardware component that is maintained by software simulation causes a hardware event (e.g., an interrupt) to occur, co-simulation is resynchronized and the hardware component is updated. Improved acceleration of co-simulation is thereby provided.

    摘要: A composite structure for aircraft having features making it resistant to structural damage when subjected to lightning strikes. Fiber tow is wound over a rotating shaping surface which is a surface of revolution. Spaced bands of tow are laid down in a helical pattern with varying spaces between bands. Some bands are typically wound at an angle of about +45.degree.. By selectively winding in one direction and then the other, a "basketweave" pattern is obtained. Typically, the tow consists of high strength fibers in a thermosetting or thermoplastic resin matrix wound to a four layer thickness. When cured, the structure has high strength and low weight and is excellent for structures such as aircraft engine cowls. The basketweave pattern gives excellent resistance to peeling and delamination upon being struck by lightning, the types of damage which are likely to occur with the usual hoop or other continuous windings. The resistance to lightning strikes is further increased by winding one or more conductive filaments in a helical pattern, under tension, over the structure before the resin is cured. The conductive filaments serve to dissipate lightning energy over a large area and carry the charges away rapidly without being subject to peeling or separation from the composite structure surface.
