    摘要: A liquid crystal panel includes a TFT substrate, an opposite substrate and a liquid crystal layer formed of a liquid crystal, which is filled in a space between the TFT and the opposite substrates, and has a negative dielectric anisotropy. A quarter wave plate and a polarizer are arranged on a front surface of the liquid crystal panel, and a quarter wave plate and a polarizer are arranged on a back surface thereof. An optical compensation layer is formed on a surface of the opposite substrate facing the liquid crystal layer. The optical compensation layer is divided into a plurality of regions for each picture element, and the respective regions are made of polymer films, each having a different compensation capability Rth in a thickness direction.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display device includes a gate bus line and a data bus line formed on a first substrate, a first transistor formed on the first substrate and connected to the gate bus line and the data bus line, a plurality of sub-picture element electrodes formed the said first substrate in a picture element region defined by the gate bus line and the data bus line, a control electrode formed on the first substrate in capacitance coupling with at least one of the plural sub-picture element electrodes, the control electrode being applied with a display voltage from the data bus line via the first transistor, and an auxiliary capacitance bus line held at a predetermined voltage level and constituting an auxiliary capacitance between the auxiliary capacitance bus line and the control electrode, wherein there is provided a second transistor between the sub-picture element electrode coupled with the control electrode by the capacitance coupling and the auxiliary capacitance bus line or between the sub-picture element electrode coupled with the control electrode by the capacitance coupling and the sub-picture element electrode connected to the first transistor, the second transistor being driven by a signal in a gate bus line different from the gate bus line to which the first transistor is connected, wherein there is provided a gate bus line driving solely the second transistor.

The buffer capacitance portion establishes capacitive coupling between the drain electrode of the third TFT and the storage capacitance bus line.

    摘要: A combination of a bright and dark display pattern and a polarity pattern is used to drive a liquid crystal display device. In the bright and dark display pattern, bright display picture elements and dark display picture elements alternate with each other every one picture element in horizontal and vertical directions. In the polarity pattern, positive-polarity picture elements and negative-polarity picture elements alternate with each other every two picture elements in the horizontal and vertical directions. This driving method allows preventing a phenomenon in which a screen becomes whitish when viewed from any oblique angle (i.e., washing out), that is, what the effect of HT technique based on time division is aiming at, while preventing the occurrence of flicker and burn-in on the screen. Moreover, the driving method enables coarseness-free excellent display, because the bright display picture elements and the dark display picture elements alternate with each other every one picture element.

    摘要: In a retardation film (c plate) for canceling the optical effect of a liquid crystal layer, the optical effect of the liquid crystal layer which is represented by Δnd/λ increases as the wavelength λ of incident light decreases. Accordingly, in order to cancel this effect, a negative retardation needs to be reduced as the wavelength of incident light increases. In a retardation film (a plate) for rotating the direction of polarization of light, an in-plane retardation needs to be increased as the wavelength λ of incident light increases. It is preferable that both of these retardation films be placed. However, compared to known technologies, light leakage can be suppressed even using only any one of the retardation films.
