Abstract:
An ink jet printer has a body with a paper path and a carriage operable to reciprocate across the paper path. An ink supply receptacle on the body is spaced apart from the carriage, and an ink conduit extends between the ink supply receptacle and a fluid output interconnect on the carriage. A gas release facility connected to the conduit allows air to be released from the conduit when the printer is first to be used. This may occur in response to filling the conduit with ink, and the facility may be near the carriage end of the conduit to allow substantial evacuation of air from the conduit. The facility may prevent further release of gas or fluid when wet, such as provided by a porous polymer material.
Abstract:
An improved bulk valve for tapping bulk material such as chemicals or foodstuffs is provided. The bulk valve operates with a piston-like action, in which an inner valve cylinder assembly is drawn open to open a path to a discharge port, or driven shut with a locking plunger to create a firm seal. Serrated puncturing teeth are provided to pierce the membrane seal of the bulk container, and light weight and low cost are achieved.
Abstract:
A conveyor system particularly adapted for feeding vehicle tires to a shredder mechanism includes telescopic conveyor sections supported to removably, adjustably position an outlet end of a first conveyor section relative to an inlet opening of the shredder mechanism and to adjustably position an inlet end of a second conveyor section at a convenient elevation for tire loading purposes.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for separating ions from a liquid through use of static fields generated by permanently polarized members which cooperate with membranes that act as mechanical inhibitors in encouraging positive ions to remain within a positive region of the apparatus and negative ions to remain within a negative region of the apparatus, thereby leaving a relatively ion-free effluent in a neutral region of the apparatus. The ions are separated through static electrical fields, which are permanently generated by the polarized material.
Abstract:
A push-push broadband dielectric resonator oscillator circuit that operates in the K and Ka band frequency range has two oscillator circuits that oscillate at the same fundamental frequency. An antiphaseal relationship is maintained between the two oscillators through the use of a dielectric resonator and the desired frequency is obtained by vectorially combining the output signals of the two oscillators that have the antiphase relationship to obtain an output frequency that is twice the fundamental frequency of operation of each of the individual dielectric resonator oscillator circuits.
Abstract:
An assembly for a vehicle includes a first member including a plurality of elastically deformable locating protrusions extending outward, and a second member defining a cavity extending inward and including a plurality of elastically deformable compression features disposed within the cavity. The locating protrusions of the first member are disposed within the cavity of the second member in press fit engagement with the compression features of the second member to secure the first member relative to the second member. The average of the elastic deformation between all of the locating protrusions of the first member and all of the compression features of the second member precisely aligns the first member relative to the second member. The assembly may include but is not limited to a multiple unit battery pack, a multiple unit fuel cell pack, a dashboard assembly or adjoining body panels.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention relate to a virtual file system for communicating changes in metadata associated with data archived in a data storage system to applications. An aspect of the invention concerns a system that comprises a virtual file system for storing metadata files wherein each metadata file is associated with an archived data file, and a virtual file system interface coupled to the virtual file system for exposing changes in the metadata files to the applications.
