Provided is a server device (101) including: a transmitting/receiving section (201) for receiving, from a household electric appliance (102), an identifier for identifying the household electric appliance (102) and an operation status of the household electric appliance (102); an updating section (207) for estimating a consumption status of a consumer good using the received operation status so as to update the consumption status of the consumer good stored in a utilization information accumulating section (205) based on the estimated consumption status of the consumer good; and a determination section (206) for deciding whether or not to transmit a confirmation message for confirming the consumer good being used with the household electric appliance, based on the updated consumption status of the consumer good.

In a system that centrally manages a terminal device group composed of a plurality of terminal devices in a home, a method allows for: determining an instruction to be transmitted to one of the terminal devices according to an operation status acquired from a different one of the terminal devices; specifying, from among the terminal devices, a terminal device as a transmission destination of the instruction, with use of pieces of connection source information specifying the respective terminal devices in a network, and acquisition times of the pieces of connection source information; and transmitting the instruction to the specified terminal device. Upon receiving the instruction, the specified terminal device performs an operation based on the received instruction. The operation is in coordination with the operation status acquired from the different terminal device.

The present application discloses a method for controlling a terminal apparatus that is used for an appliance control system for executing a remote operation on a plurality of air conditioners from a car. The method includes a first judgment step of causing a computer of the terminal apparatus to judge whether or not a start condition of the remote operation is satisfied; a second judgment step of causing the computer to judge whether or not the car exists in a control region defined around a building; a first display step of causing a display of the terminal apparatus to display a start instruction image for providing an instruction to start the remote operation; an output step of causing the computer to, if an instruction image region used in common to a plurality of target appliances to be operated is operated on the start instruction image, output control data to a network; and a second display step of causing the display to display a plurality of notification images indicating that the control data has been transmitted to the plurality of target appliances to be operated.

An information management method includes collecting log information of one or more home electrical apparatuses, generating display screen data indicating a status of the log information of the apparatuses corresponding service providers based on the collected log information, where the display screen data includes groups of information each contain information on an apparatus, a service provider corresponding to the apparatus, and log information output from the apparatus, and provision of the log information of each group is individually selectable, providing the display screen data via a network to a display terminal that performs access to a server device, receiving information from the display terminal, which indicates that selection on whether or not provision of the log information is performed, and stopping provision of the log information on the selected group when a determination is made that the refusal of provision of the log information on the selected group is performed.

A gateway (103) determines whether or not voice information collected by a sound collecting device (102) needs to be subjected to voice recognition by a server apparatus (101), and only voice information that is determined to need to be subjected to voice recognition by the server apparatus (101) is transmitted by the gateway (103) to the server apparatus (101). The server apparatus (101) recognizes the received voice information, decides a control instruction, and transmits the control instruction to a household electrical appliance (104) via the gateway (103).

A control method is used in a remote control system including apparatuses and an information terminal that controls the apparatus(es) via a network. The control method includes: determining whether or not communication currently performed by the information terminal via the network is secure; displaying, for each apparatus, an icon for displaying control menus of a corresponding apparatus on a user interface region of a display unit in the information terminal in a display mode determined according to the determined security; displaying, on the user interface region, the control menus for controlling the corresponding apparatus, if the icon is selected; generating a control signal for causing the corresponding apparatus to perform an operation according to control corresponding to a first control menu, if the first control menu s selected from the displayed control menus; and transmitting the control signal to the corresponding apparatus via the network.
