    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for transmitting an uplink reference signal, receiving a keep alive (KA) command based, at least in part, on the uplink reference signal, and taking one or more actions to perform a handover to a non-serving base station (BS) in accordance with the KA command. Additionally, aspects provide methods and apparatus for receiving an uplink reference signal from a user equipment (UE), measuring the uplink reference signal, and transmitting a KA command to the UE based, at least in part, on the measured uplink reference signal. The KA command may be scrambled by an identifier associated with the UE. Additionally or alternatively, a cyclic prefix (CP) of the uplink reference signal may be longer than a CP of another type of reference signal.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. The methods, systems, and devices may include receiving control information from a serving station, synchronizing with an end device based at least in part on the control information received from the serving station, and receiving an acknowledgement (ACK) from the end device in response to the synchronizing, the ACK indicating the end device is synchronized with the relay device. The methods, systems, and devices may also include receiving a data packet from the end device subsequent to the synchronizing, and transmitting, to the serving station, the data packet received from the end device, the transmitting based at least in part on the control information received from the serving station.

    Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in connection with enabling distributed frequency synchronization based on a fastest node clock rate. In one example, a first UE is equipped to determine that a fastest clock rate is faster than an internal clock rate of the first UE by more than a first positive offset, and adjust the internal clock rate based on the determined fastest clock rate. In an aspect, the fastest clock rate is associated with a second UE of one or more other UEs from which synchronization signals may be received. In another example, a UE is equipped to obtain GPS based timing information, adjust an internal clock rate based on the GPS based timing information, and transmit a synchronization signal at an artificially earlier time in comparison to a scheduled time of transmission associated with the adjusted internal clock rate.
