In certain aspects, a method for use by a network device includes determining a set of available local area data networks (LADNs) for a user equipment (UE) based on a subscription of the UE to a set of data network names (DNNs) corresponding to the set of available LADNs and sending the UE information indicative of the set of available LADNs and a location of availability corresponding to each of the LADNs of the set of available LADNs.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to mechanisms for interworking between legacy and next generation radio access technologies (RATs) in a communication network. In some examples, a handover from a next generation access network to a legacy access network may be performed via a next generation core network and a legacy core network. A handover request received at a next generation core network serving node may include an identifier of a target cell within the legacy access network. The next generation core network serving node may identify a legacy core network serving node to which the handover may be forwarded based on the target cell identifier. Packet data units may then be routed over the legacy access network and the next generation core network by mapping data flows in the next generation core network to packet data connections in the legacy access network.

Abstract: Communication using a radio access network (RAN) including a primary cell for license spectrum access and a secondary cell for unlicensed spectrum access may be improved to provide optimal performance while considering characteristics of the primary cell and the secondary cell. The apparatus may be a core network entity. The core network entity is connected to a RAN including a primary cell utilizing a licensed spectrum and a secondary cell utilizing an unlicensed spectrum. The core network entity determines an authorization for data traffic to be offloaded to the secondary cell based on data traffic characteristics. The core network transmits an indication of the authorization to the RAN.

Abstract: A method, operational at a device, includes receiving at least one packet belonging to a first set of packets of a packet flow marked with an identification value, determining that the at least one packet is marked with the identification value, determining to change a quality of service (QoS) treatment of packets belonging to the first set of packets marked with the identification value that are yet to be received, and sending a request to change the QoS treatment of packets belonging to the first set of packets marked with the identification value that are yet to be received to trigger a different QoS treatment of packets within the packet flow, responsive to determining to change the QoS treatment. Abstract: Mobile devices may receive page transmissions that include information related to a service for which the mobile device is being paged. The mobile device may be provided with a policy that describes a priority of radio access technologies (RATs) based on the type of service for which the mobile device is being paged. The mobile device, based at least in part on the service information, may access one or more of the wireless communications networks based on the identified service and/or based on the policy. A page transmission may include an indication of a RAT that is to be used for the page response and/or an index into the policy. A base station that transmits a page transmission may include an identifier of a particular network that is to be accessed in response to the page.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A wireless device transmits an indication of whether the device should be paged over a 3GPP access when a core network has data ready to transmit for PDU sessions over a non-3GPP access. A session management function (SMF) of the core network receives a data notification indicating that the core network has data ready to transmit to the wireless device for a PDU session over the non-3GPP access. The SMF determines whether to transmit a paging request to an access and mobility management function (AMF) of the core network based on a paging state of the SMG, a paging state of the wireless device, or a connection management idleness state of the wireless device. The AMF determines whether to transmit a paging message to the wireless device.

Abstract: Techniques are described herein to communicate policy information and policy information requests between user equipments (UEs) and a core network using control plane signaling. In some examples, non-access stratum (NAS) messages may be used to communicate policy information requests from a UE to the core network. Similarly, NAS messages may be used to communicate up-to-date policy information from the core network to the UE. In some examples, the core network may include number of functions to manage the communication of policy information with the UE. In some examples where the UE is roaming away from its home network, the core network may engage in additional signaling to pass policy information to the UE.

Abstract: The disclosure relates in some aspects to establishing connectivity with a network using a first set of credentials and determining whether additional connectivity needs to be established (e.g., using a second set of credentials) to communicate data. The disclosure relates in some aspects to the use of multiple credentials for access and service connectivity. For example, traffic generated by a device may be authorized based on a different set of credentials than the set of credentials used to access the network (e.g., to connect to an LTE network for a PDN connection). In this way, traffic belonging to a specific service or application can be charged and policed based on service specific needs. The disclosure thus relates in some aspects to the use of access credentials and service credentials. These different types of credentials can be used to enable traffic differentiation and policing based on the credentials in use.

Abstract: Aspects generally relate to a priority mechanism for handing potentially conflicting triggers related to offloading rules and RAN aggregation. As described, a UE may receive, from a BS, configuration information for RAN aggregation of one or more data bearers and offloading rules for WLAN offloading. The UE may determine a priority for communicating using the RAN aggregation and offloading rules based, at least in part, on the received configuration information. The UE may perform the RAN aggregation or the WLAN offloading according to the offloading rules based on the determined priority. The priorities may be established in an effort to generally give priority to RAN aggregation over offloading rules and/or give priority to UE-specific instructions over broadcasted instructions.
