The display device includes a light source unit constituted by arranging a plurality of light source elements each having light source arrays being arranged on heat receiving plates respectively so as to conduct the light beams of the colors to irradiation surfaces of a synthesizing prism, a refrigerating unit including at least a refrigerant compressor, a condenser, a pressure reducing unit and a refrigerant pipe constituting an evaporator, and an air cooling device lower in cooling capacity than the refrigerating unit. Of the plural light source arrays, those relatively large in the amount of heat generated are connected to the refrigerating unit, while the others are connected to the air cooling unit.

The voltage-controlled oscillator includes: a differential alternating current generator including a resonator capable of varying resonant frequency according to an input control voltage, for generating a pair of differential alternating current each of which having the same frequency with the resonant frequency of the resonator yet being 180 degrees out of phase in mutual; a pair of transformers each of which having a primary inductor and a secondary inductor, for conducting the alternating current to the primary inductor; and an impedance-matching circuit connected to the secondary inductor of the transformers, wherein an output signal is outputted from the secondary inductors of the transformers.

The resolver includes a disc-shaped resolver stator held on the motor casing and having a surface on which a thin-film-shaped coil is formed, and a disc-shaped resolver rotor provided on an end face of the motor rotor and having a surface on which a thin-film-shaped coil is formed. Part of the motor casing holding the outer periphery of the resolver stator is formed as a shield portion cylindrically protruding along the outer periphery of the resolver rotor to the rotor. The motor casing and the shield portion are each made of a non-magnetic conductive material.
