The devices can include an elongate body having distally positioned tubing elements and proximally positioned control elements. The tubing elements are adapted for selective and independent radial expansion and contraction and longitudinal movement, such that movement of the tubing elements can drive the device through a lumen. In addition, the tubing elements can include a traction surface to reduce slippage.

    摘要: An endoscopic bite block, with teeth position defining regions which guide the subject's teeth to grip the bite block in their natural position, with the teeth of the upper jaw positioned further out than the lower jaw teeth. These teeth position defining regions are also preferably curved to match the curved shape of the jaw. The upper and lower parts of the front plate of the bite block may also be positioned at different distances out, so that upper and lower lip regions both contact the front plate snuggly. The bite block may be used with separate oral/nasal cannulae, or may incorporate breath sampling or gas supply cannulae. A flexible flapped curtain at the outer end of the bite block may be provided to largely enclose the inner volume of the bite block to enable more accurate capnographic sampling under conditions of wide-open mouth breathing.

    摘要: A transesophageal ultrasound probe for imaging internal structures via an imaging element located on the distal end of a rotating endoscope shaft. The probe includes a rotating endoscope having an imaging element mounted on the distal end of the rotating endoscope shaft. The probe also includes a control handle for controlling the imaging controls and a rotation tube that extends through the rotating endoscope shaft and into the control handle. The rotating shaft rotates relative to, and independently of, the control handle. Preferably, the rotating shaft is rotated via a rotation control wheel. The rotation control wheel is fastened or bonded to the rotating tube so that manual rotation of the control wheel causes the rotation tube to rotate, and therefore, the rotating shaft to rotate. Because the rotating endoscope shaft rotates, an imaging element located on, or within, the rotating shaft also rotates.

    摘要: Systems and methods for the evaluation of the urethra and periurethral tissues may involve an MRI coil adapted for insertion into the male, female or pediatric urethra. The MRI coil may be in electrical communication with an interface circuit made up of a tuning-matching circuit, a decoupling circuit and a balun circuit. The interface circuit may also be in electrical communication with a MRI machine. In certain practices, the present invention provides methods for the diagnosis and treatment of conditions involving the urethra and periurethral tissues, including disorders of the female pelvic floor, conditions of the prostate and anomalies of the pediatric pelvis.

    摘要: Pharyngoesophageal monitoring systems are provided that monitor the environment of the pharynx and esophagus, and in some embodiments, detect and monitor refluxate, and may further record other physical episode data. The system may be provided, in some embodiments, as a bifurcated, adjustable, multiple internal reference probe, and methods thereof, to detect acid reflux and to monitor pH levels of acid reflux episodes simultaneously at multiple locations within the pharyngoesophageal passage. Some embodiments provide a recorder and one or a plurality of sensor arrangements, the recorder being responsive to the sensors and capable of correlation of signals generated by the sensor arrangements.

    摘要: In an endoscope apparatus of the present invention, an one-side gap between a tube main body of an overtube and an insertion portion is set at 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm. Lubricity is improved because a lubricating liquid such as water supplied from the injection port to the base end side of the tube main body is sufficiently supplied to the whole area of the gap between the tube main body and the insertion portion by setting the one-side gap at not less than 0.5 mm. Also, the snaking of the insertion portion with respect to the tube main body can be held to a minimum by setting the one-side gap at not more than 1.5 mm. As a result of this, the insertion and extraction operability of the insertion portion with respect to the overtube is improved.
