摘要: A sensor array apparatus for monitoring medical signals includes a flexible substrate adapted to generally conform to a topography of a skin surface. The flexible substrate includes a central portion arranged about a central focal point and a plurality of finger-like projections extending radially outwardly from the central portion. A medical electrode is disposed on at least one of the finger-like projections, preferably, each of the finger-like projections. Connector, in electrical communication with the medical electrode, is adapted to connect to an electronic system.

摘要: A medical electrode system and method comprises four measuring electrode elements and optional reference electrodes each presenting a skin contactable conducting electrode surface, the four elements adapted to be mounted in use on the skin surface of a selected part of the human or animal body so as to be disposed in a generally orthogonal arrangement with the outputs therefrom being arranged and processed so as to connect the electrode elements either as opposing differential pairs or as potentials with respect to the reference electrode(s) where present

摘要: A fetal pulse oximetry sensor device containing a pulse oximetry sensor is disclosed. The device also includes a spiral for fetal attachment. One or both of the light emitting portion and light detecting portion of the pulse oximetry sensor is spring biased to be moveable with respect to the body of the device. Alternatively, the light emitting portion and light detecting portion may be mounted within the housing of the device, with the housing being spring biased towards the fetal skin. In this manner, the pulse oximetry sensor is maintained in intimate contact with the fetal tissue. This provides for accurate oximetry measurements since the errors due to the detection of unattenuated or non-absorbed light passing directly from the light emitter to the light detector, are significantly reduced. The fetal attachment spiral may also include a fetal EKG electrode, in which case the device may be used as both a fetal pulse oximeter and a fetal heart rate monitor.

摘要: There is disclosed herein a bipolar fetal monitoring electrode having an electrode body, a spiral electrode terminating in a point for engaging with fetal scalp, and a reference electrode insulated from the spiral electrode. The end of the electrode from which the spiral extends includes one or more protrusions in the form of points, ramps, ribs or the like to increase the resistance of the spiral from unwinding from the fetal scalp to which it is attached and thus to help prevent the spiral from unwinding spontaneously.

摘要: A biocompatible covering, soluble in body fluids, surrounds the fixation helix of an implantable cardiac electrode as the electrode, and its adjoining lead, are inserted intravenously to a selected cardiac chamber. The covering size and shape are selected for protection of blood vessels and other body tissues during insertion, and for exposure of the fixation element shortly after its proper positioning. The covering may be applied to the fixation element by a dip coating process, or formed separately by casting or injection molding, for later attachment to the lead distal end using an adhesive.

摘要: Method and apparatus are provided for use in conducting an electroencephalographic (EEG) test where the apparatus includes a headset suitable for placement on the head of a subject to be tested. A plurality of electrodes are mounted on the headset at pre-determined positions about the headset. The electrodes are preferably mounted to the headset by the use of a resilient material, preferably a resilient wire or plastic mesh which is bonded to both the electrode assembly and to the headset. Each of the electrode assemblies include a separate air cylinder for displacing the electrode in the direction of the subject's head upon the application of additional air pressure into the cylinder. A bellows arrangement is provided within each air cylinder for effecting displacement of the electrode.Means are further provided for dispensing a predetermined amount of an electrolytic material from an external source of electrolyte, through the electrode, to the point of contact between the electrode and the subject's head.
