Abstract:
Fluid separation assembly that allows easy and fast change-out even in confined spaces, and also minimizes or eliminates leakage during change-out. A fluid separation unit having a housing containing separation means, the housing having an inlet and an outlet spaced from the inlet, each including a fitting for attachment of the housing to a manifold or other device allowing fluid communication through the separation means to a point of use is provided. The fittings are designed for quick connect/disconnect, and for minimal or no leakage. The fittings may be on opposite ends, with top and bottom fittings of different configurations, thereby ensuring proper installation of the assembly. The particular medium to be separated is not particularly limited, and can include slurries, fluids including water, and pre-loaded chromatography columns.
Abstract:
A filtration system comprising a manifold and a filter having fittings, wherein a carriage supporting the filter is operatively associated with a mounting mechanism to move the fitter between a position in which the filter is spaced from the manifold and a position in which a fitting of the filter engages a fitting of the manifold. The mounting mechanism includes a pivotable lever arrangement. The pivotable lever arrangement includes a lever, a pivot pin, and a pin and slot assembly. The lever pivots about the pivot pin and the pin of the pin and slot assembly slides between a first location and a second location in the slot.
Abstract:
A fluid filtering apparatus and method may include keyed components to ensure that a correct filter element is being installed into a filter base, and to automatically actuate a fluid valve as the filter element is rotated into place on the base. Tool-less replacement of the element is provided. An embodiment of the element may include inner and outer substantially tubular-shaped media packs disposed about an axis, with one end of each of the inner and outer media packs being attached to an end cap of the element in a manner defining a fluid flow space between the inner and outer media packs for receiving a flow of fluid directed in parallel through the inner and outer media packs. A housing of the filter apparatus may include a flow tube configured to fit into the space between the inner and outer media packs.
Abstract:
A metallic particle trap bypass filter is disclosed generally comprising a housing, a filter element disposed therein, an inflow chamber, an outflow chamber, a bypass valve connecting these chambers, and a magnet disposed in the outflow chamber. In some embodiments, the magnet is a magnetic rod. In certain advantageous embodiments, a second filter element, with a different mesh size than the first filter element, is coupled to the first filter element. In some embodiments, the filter element in stainless steel, and in certain embodiments, the filter element is pleated.
Abstract:
A freeze resistant filter cartridge assembly and methods for fabrication include a filter cartridge including a filter housing and a filter media and having at least one component selected from a list of components consisting of: the filter housing being formed of an increased elasticity polyolefin polymer having elongation and glass transition properties that allow for stretching of the housing during a freezing event rather than rupturing; a sleeve having a volume of air entrapped therein within and being disposed in the interior of the filter cartridge; and the filter housing formed of a conventional polyolefin having a wall thickness great enough to resist freeze induced expansion stresses. A disassemble cartridge filter includes a filter cap, a filter housing and a filter element. The filter cap and filter housing are rotatably attached wherein cap and housing engagement members prevent rotatable disengagement of the filer cap and filter housing.
Abstract:
A filter assembly with a replaceable filter element and a reusable filter housing, which incorporates a locking mechanism to ensure that the filter system will not be operated without a filter element installed.
Abstract:
The present invention involves a filter element assembly (10), which is useful in removing undissolved adhesive bodies from oil. The assembly includes at least one cylindrical body 11 of principal filter medium for removing particulates from oil. Body 11 has an inlet end and an outlet end. A secondary filter medium 20 for removing undissolved adhesive bodies from the oil is located around the sides and across the inlet end of the principle medium (11). A flow affording spacer 926) is disposed between the sides and the inlet end of the principal medium (11). A preferred spacer (26) is a non-woven expandible mesh present in a partially expanded state and having elements (27,28) grouped in first and second sets in which the elements (27) in the first set are laid atop the elements (28) in the second set. A readily cleanable containment vessel (39) for the filter element assembly (10) includes a tubular body (41) which is releasably connectible in liquid tight relation to a bottom cover (44) for the body (41).
Abstract:
A filter cartridge assembly (10) comprising respective disposable elements (11) positioned either side of a three part reusable flow through spacer means (12), the spacer means (12) comprises three parts, opposed support sections (19 and 20) and an outer locator ring (21). The support sections (19 and 20) have filtrate flow through passages (22) and abutment flanges (23) which abut to provide radial flow through passages (24). Each of the supports (19 and 20) include circular ridges (25 and 26) at the inner and outer peripheral edges designed to push into the paper roll (16) while O-rings (27 and 28) provide seals between the supports (19 and 20) and the ring (21) and the outer body (13) of the respective elements (11).

Abstract:
A filter element (10) having a supporting body (11) around which a filter medium (12) is wound. The filter medium (12) is a weldable material and is sealingly affixed to the supporting body (11) two radial weld seams (18) and/or a longitudinal weld seam (19). The welding of the filter medium (12) onto the supporting body (11) eliminates the need to produce prefabricated tubes of filter medium, and enables the filter medium to be processed directly from a roll.
